POSITIVE: HAL market cap is sufficient to get itself included in the MSCI Index. Might happen in May-2023. so the govt has timed this well.

NEGATIVE: Domestic institutions like #LIC & #HDFC who bought the stock when it was Rs1000 levels appear to be selling in each rally even while Retail & FIIs appear have to increased their stake. DONT READ much into the FII stake since much of it could be Index Funds, ETFs & HFs

I, Mr A(#Adani) have 100 chips. By #Law, I cannot own more than 75, so I hav 73 chips. 27 chips r sold in d market. Anther 15 Chips: My uncle buys them by pretending to b normal people. This is illegal, bt who will catch me?

So there are 12 chips left in the market. Out of these, #Funds like #LIC buys 9 chips. 3 chips are now left on the open market.

My #media, #political and PR management and #connections are excellent. There are whispers that I am related to the #king and #Government.

My uncle, disguised as a common man, #buys and #sells chips again, creating an impression of great demand. A plastic chip worth Rs 2 is given for Rs 10.
People compete to buy at Rs 12, 13. Then my uncle increases price and buys chips fr Rs 100 making me one of Investors Fav scrip

2 LIC has stakes in 5 Adani Group companies of which its earliest substantive acquisition was in Adani Ports in Sept 2000. LIC management has defended itself by saying that the acquisitions in Group cos were made “over a period”. <3 years does not suggest long term!

3 Significantly Adani Port, which has been a major source of revenue, is the only co to have somewhat avoided the free fall in the month after the #Hindenburg revelations. LIC’s stake, thankfully for now, were more in this venture. LIC will do well not to bet on this for long

India’s Insurance density (Premiums/population) is very low & you will hear this most from insurers. India at $59 per capita premium appears to be in its "infancy" with huge upside ahead. Even with a base of 1.4 Bn people, this does look attractive for high growth. Right ?

Until you look at the YoY trend below (not found in DRHP, obviously). India has been stuck in this range since 2009. In-fact we have a falling trend with some spurts. This hardly looks like a growth market to me. So what happened here ? We’ll examine this later.

As the #LIC IPO opens today, a small snippet from its history...one of independent India’s first scams involved LIC, and a large part of the credit of bringing it to light lay with Nehru’s son-in-law.

Feroze Gandhi; whose proposal of marriage Indira Gandhi had accepted as she wrote, ‘on the steps of the (Basilica) of Sacré-Coeur’ at the end of summer while ‘Paris bathed in soft sunshine,’ is said to have had an unpleasant relationship with his father-in-law Jawaharlal Nehru.

The marriage was said to eventually have become an unhappy one. But, like Indira, he too spent time in jail during the freedom struggle; and was a formidable enough parliamentarian, not least when he was embarrassing Nehru’s government.
