Mixed Media Workshop Part 2

Here is a quick recap of the Mixed Media class I blogged about here. Serenity Studio Arts is exactly what it sounds like...it's a studio where one can go to throw pottery, or paint, or do stained class or make jewelry. BUT, up until now, there weren't any signs of Mixed-media, art journaling, paper arts or anything that falls into that category. I'm excited to say that has all changed and it's due to the enthusiasm of the owner. Courtney wants to learn it all and that is enough for me to jump in and say..."I can teach you that!".

Here's just a few photos that I was able to snap during the class. I have more but somehow I've lost them in iPhoto and can't find them...not deleted but disappeared...lol! If and when I find them I will update this post! It was a small class but I felt comfortable with this size to start. 

Now here's the best part of the happenings at Serenity Studio Arts...to say I'm a wee bit excited is an understatement! I'm going to be the featured artist for First Friday Art Walk, Apr. 5 2013, Serenity Studio Arts,Elizabeth City, NC!! If you're around come on down!

"ART JOURNALING....What is it? Why do it? How do I start? All are great questions! A fun way to express yourself artistically in many ways. Local artist, Martha Richardson will demo this fantastic art form during the FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK here on, April 5th from 5:30-7:30pm. We are also going to be starting an Art Journaling group to meet and work together a few times a month starting in April.....more details to come!"

Well it's the end of a long weekend and I have a studio to clean up...here to a great week coming up!

The Second Floor Challenge #4: Circles

Today is Challenge #4 reveal from The Second Floor Challenge with Nathalie Kalbach & Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. 

I haven't been able to start #3 and now #4...CIRCLES. YIPPEE! I love circles and can't wait to do this but everything will be on hold for a while as:


1. I'm getting to retire in 17 days and I have way to much do to fish out this school year {I really don't want to think about it}


2. I'm in the middle of a total studio transformation which is 3/4's done and I will be sharing this!


3. As soon as I retire I have to travel 800 miles to take care of a house sale that has been a long time in the works!


4. 6 blog posts to create and get ready for Tattered Angels and HELMAR.
All of this before the middle of June ;)

Just for me...

I'm on overload...it's the ending of another school year...projects due...class assignments to complete. I say that I will get caught up over summer break...LOL! I'm fooling myself and I probably wouldn't have it any other way. I've been neglecting my blog and I haven't created anything just for me! This weekend was an opportunity to create something just for me...and it felt great ;) Here's what I made...a little bit from SOUL RESTORATION, SheART, ArtJournal Everyday and Free Your Creativity.

Don't you love that...I do. I love this canvas and the saying. I enrolled in a class taught by Nathalie Kalbach "UNLEASH YOUR CREATIVITY"...a class being offered at Craft Edu. It was wonderful and I'm getting ready to start another canvas. I'm hoping that Nathalie will consider doing more classes. I'm so jealous because Nathalie is teaching all over Europe and Australia...wish we could get her to the States...just sayin'...until then I will have to be satisfied with online classes. Isn't this fun???

Tattered Angels...more to see from CHA???

It looks like CHA hype is getting to a fevered pitch...the excitement is so obvious...I for one will have to be satisfied sitting here at my computer looking at sneak peeks. Although some sneak peeks from Tattered Angels have already been seen I have the feeling that there may be more coming...we'll have to wait & see.

Don't forget to check out the Tattered Angels blog tomorrow for the very talented Peg Hewitt to revel her Jan. projects. I would like to post my last but MOST favorite of the 3 projects I completed.
