Generations Selects Special Comic
Slitherfangs were the latest creations of the Quintessons, and could be created by using Angolmois Energy to convert existing Selectors into the beasts. The Terrorcon general Hun-Gurrr gobbled up a Smashdown and a Soundbarrier, then used Angolmois Energy to convert them into a Slitherfang. Hun-Gurrr then promptly spat out the mechanical cobra at Optimus Prime. A Quintesson Judge also demonstrated this conversion ability by putting a Soundbarrier from Spike Witwicky's household in a Recreator, then using Angolmois Energy to change it into a vicious Slitherfang. Abominus comic 1 The Quintesson Judge would use a Slitherfang as a monitor screen to watch over Abominus in battle. Abominus comic 2

- Part of the second wave of Earthrise Battle Masters, Slitherfang transforms from snake mode to a shield that can be held by any C.O.M.B.A.T. System-compatible figure. Their alt mode also features an A.I.R. Lock System connector on each end, allowing them to connect with any other toy with compatible connectors, forming roadways and ramps. Or a longer snake, if you’re into that. They have a pair of small 3 mm pegs on them to mount "Fire Blast effect" add-ons to simulate getting pelted with blaster-fire.
- The instructions contain a second set of steps demonstrating how to transform Slitherfang from shield to connector piece. It's ultimately rather superfluous; all it amounts to is moving the peg at the tip of the figure's tail. It can be accomplished by rotating the piece via a small knob on the opposite end of the piece, without having to remove the whole tail assembly from its place in the shield mode.
- Like all Earthrise releases, the cardboard back of Slitherfang's package includes a cut-out collectible piece of a larger star map.
- Slitherfang was not part of TakaraTomy's regular-retail Earthrise toyline, instead being relegated to a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive... alongside about half of the Hasbro line's regular retail product.

Notes
- Slitherfang is inspired by unused concept art for an Autobot Master Warrior from the 1987 The Headmasters line. Toxin shares this design lineage by way of an unlicensed "third-party" figure for TFcon.
