Mendez is a resident of Merida. Armed with a gun, he prowls the city street hoping to make a quick buck by way of mugging folks.

Mendez accosted Vroom, Spike, Metalhawk, Crossblades, and Elizabeth as they were exiting an Italian restaurant, unaware that the bulk of the group were Cybertronians in disguise. When they failed to hand over their money, Mendez shot Metalhawk in the chest. Assembly As soon as energon began spilling out of the wound instead of blood, Mendez realized his victim wasn't human. He tried to threaten the rest of the group as soon as this dawned on him, but was quickly restrained by Vroom and Crossblades. The Autobots debated what to do with him, only for two local police officers to turn up. Mendez was taken to the Merida Police station, but refused to share what he had seen, fearing it would implicate him in his own crime. Insight
