Kingbolt (Armada)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the Unicron Trilogy Mini-Con. For the Beast Wars: Uprising Micromaster, see Kingbolt (BWU). |
- Kingbolt is a Mini-Con from the Legends of the Microns portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
His speech pattern may be that of a corny-sounding old-fashioned knight, but make no mistake, Kingbolt (キングボルト Kinguboruto) lives up to the old-fashioned knight stereotype. Courageous, courteous and unwavering in his resolve, he fights valiantly for the freedom of the Mini-Con race. His feats of heroics have earned him a very high rank, plus the respect and admiration of his people.
Leader of the Hazard Team, Kingbolt launches into battle without fear. If any foes manage to get past the hail of firepower he can put out, the tiny knight's impressive skill at melee combat will give them a battle they won't soon forget.

Linkage
Kingbolt was among the many Mini-Cons whose storage panels were scattered across the globe when the Exodus went down. He was summoned from his panel by his teammates Impulsor and Quench after they were freed from their panels by Stella Holley. With a mighty flying kick, Kingbolt freed the captured Twirl from the monster Ravenus, but held off on destroying him with his cannon mode when Twirl revealed the creature was in fact a horribly mutated Autobot. Linkage Part 11 The Mini-Cons joined forces and used the new powers unlocked within them from the Linkage dimension to revert Ravenus to his non-mutated, heroic self.
After the battle, Kingbolt spoke to the gathered Mini-Cons on Earth and encouraged them to join with the Autobots and return to Cybertron to face their creator, Unicron. Linkage Part 12 The Hazard Team Powerlinxed to the powerful Overload during the battle. Linkage Part 13
Toys
Legends of the Microns
- Kingbolt (DVD pack-in, 2004)
- Release date: February 25, 2004
- Legends of the Microns Kingbolt is a redeco of the Emergency Mini-Con Team memeber Prowl, transforming into both a Cybertronic police car and a pistol that can be held by most larger toys with 5 mm post-holes. Like most Mini-Cons, he has a Powerlinx socket that lets him attach to any Transformer toy with a compatible plug.
- He was only available with the first run of the eleventh Legends of the Microns DVD in Japan, and came with the eleventh installment of the Linkage comic. Later pressings of the disc, however, did not include the toy or comic.
- This toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Kingbolt. This mold was also used to make Energon Groove, Galaxy Force Quasar, and Cybertron Checkpoint.

Notes
- Kingbolt is quite the smorgasbord of Japanese pop culture references:
- His coloration and character are heavily inspired by the Takara Brave series toys, most notably the sports car component (pictured right) of the titular hero of Brave Exkaiser.
- The aerial kick attack he uses to make his dramatic entrance in the Linkage mini-comic (pictured above as this article's mainpic) is a blatant homage to the "Rider Kick" technique made famous by the Kamen Rider series.
- The use of his cannon mode held by a "spectral" gunman in his debut (pictured above in the Fiction section) is a lift of the final "Big Magnum" attack from the Metal Hero series Space Sheriff Shaider.
