"We've got to get to the Molly Hatchet concert, fast!"

As the right-hand man of the Mechanic, Juan is a car thief living and operating in Portland. He is not as ambitious as his boss, but he has a good grip on reality and is both reliable and capable. Moreso, because of his severe fear of cops, the Mechanic needs Juan to get him out of trouble whenever the police get on their case.

At the A-1 wreck yard, Juan tried to haggle with a potential customer for a better price on their cars. The customer wouldn't consider it unless he'd get to talk with the boss, at which point the Mechanic came out of the shadows despite Juan's protests. The customer then showed his police badge and informed them that they were surrounded. The Mechanic fell prey to his phobia, leaving it up to Juan to get them out of the mess. As fate would have it, Juan spotted an ambulance with its motor still running. Speeding off in it, he shouted some sense back in the Mechanic, telling him to find a way to hinder their pursuers.

Before the Mechanic could act, Ratchet took care of the cops to protect his cover, hoping the humans were too busy to notice. Juan was, but the Mechanic was not. As Juan drove the ambulance to their hideout, the Mechanic removed several of Ratchet's tools, which he used to freeze Ratchet once the Transformer revealed his true nature. Juan wished to run before the robot melted, but he was stopped by his boss, who wanted even more weapons. The two took a van, drove outside, waited for the robot to defrost and followed it to its base. Juan was told to wait in the car, which he did until his boss came running back, screaming it was another police trap. Juan noted that the police never would go to all this trouble just to catch a car thief, but drove off anyway. Funeral for a Friend!

With the weapons they had acquired, the car thieves stole all sorts of hi-tech equipment to create a super-garage in an abandoned canning factory on the outskirts of Portland. The final thing they needed was an advanced computer. Conveniently, one was reported to be on transport in their general area, so they set out to get it. While Juan was keeping the drivers in check with the laser scalpel, Autobots and police showed up. However, the police was more interested in attacking the Autobots than arresting the car thieves, something the car thieves gratefully made use of to get away.

A few hours later, they had the computer installed and Juan was operating it while the Mechanic welcomed several customers for a demonstration of the modifications he could make to cars. Juan picked up transmissions by the Autobots and the police on the radar and was ordered to let them approach so the Mechanic could show off the efficiency of his modification. Juan himself captured Goldbug with a large magnet, intending to dismantle him. However, Blaster and the cops did better against the other criminals: Greco arrested Juan before he could do Goldbug any harm. Mechanical Difficulties!
