Head Formation
From Transformers Wiki
One of the Headmasters' primary abilities is the power to super-charge their energy levels by pooling and/or exchanging energy amongst themselves. This process takes several steadily-evolving forms; the Head Formation is the ultimate expression of this ability, and is itself performed in several different ways.
The most basic, root form of the Head Formation is the Cross-Head On, which involves the Headmasters disconnecting from their Transtectors and exchanging them with their teammates. Through unexplained means, this boosts the strength of the Headmasters involved in the process. The Four-Million-Year-Old Veil of Mystery The effect can be maximized by constant switching of heads. Return of the Immortal Emperor To accomplish a greater power boost, the Headmasters can enter a "Power-Up Formation" after separating from their Transtectors - this involves the small robots linking their arms and combining their energy together, multiplying their individual energy level several times over, before connecting to one of the teammates' Transtectors. The first documented use of the Head Formation was similar to the "Power Up Formation" described, only in this instance, the Headmasters reconnected to their own Transtectors, rather than swapping with a partner. Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!! Later, the Headmasters proved that they did not even need to disconnect from their Transtectors to enter the formation. In this instance, however, rather than using the energy to boost their strength, they actually charged their bodies with it and spun themselves in a crackling, destructive circle. Ultra Magnus Dies!! Soon thereafter, the team also displayed the ability to discharge this energy as destructive bolts, powerful enough to end even the threat of Galvatron. During the final battle on Earth, when Fortress Maximus was locked in combat with Scorponok, the Headmasters attempted to use Head Formation to channel their energy into Fortress Maximus via a bolt. This did not prove enough to give their commander the edge, however, until Daniel Witwicky suggested that all the Autobots join the circle. Together, united in "Final Formation," the Headmasters channelled the energy of the entire Autobot army into Fortress Maximus, giving him the strength needed to destroy Scorponok's Transtector and stop his plan to destroy Earth.
