Here are a few pictures from the solar well installation at the compound. Still so much to do. So little time and money though.
At some point the 1500 gallon tank will arrive - for now we just have a 325 gallon stock trough.

Excellent post Pickdog. Now if we just had some info on costs for a solar setup like this? Thanks.
RW
Looking good, Pickdog. Looking good, indeed!
Thanks RW - ok, here is the skinny.
1) Well is at 240 feet (an extra 20.00 per foot over 200 feet).
2) We went with a Grundfos pump as it can be powered by almost any source (1600 or so - over double the cost of an AC submersible).
3) We added a solar tracker that allows the solar panels to follow the sun, thus increasing pumping capacity by about 35% (about $800.00). As you may be able to see we can add two more panels to the tracker so we can add batteries later for lighting in the cabin to be built or for electric fencing.
4) 1500 gallon storage tank.
Total cost was just under 16,000.00. The solar set up was just over 6,000.00 more than a standard AC set up.
FYI, we started this project in August of last year and it is still complete. This mainly due to a backlog of wells needed to be drilled and then the fires in Bastrop county a couple of months ago that have kept the well guys busy.

just wanted to point out that we were on a waiting list for solar panels and the tracker....took about 2 months if Ii recall.
It's nice to see the occasional post here that's not political or financial. Best of luck with filling your well.
