This is a sub-page of Super Punch-Out!! (SNES).

SuperPunchOutSNES-FreeMatch.png

A hidden, fully functional mode to challenge any of the 16 boxers without going through the game normally. At the title screen, hold Y + R on Controller 2, then press Start on Controller 1. Press Start at this screen to start a fight with that boxer.

Additionally, on the pre-fight interview screen, by holding B + Y on Controller 2 and pressing Start or A on Controller 1, Player 2 can control the opponent. Buttons A, B, X, Y, and holding Up or Down while pressing these buttons do the boxer's various punches and one of his signature moves. Some boxers will automatically do special movements or sways at regular intervals or counter-punches even with no input, as they would normally in-game when playing against the AI.

When the match ends, either via the pause menu, KO, TKO, or timeout, the game resets to the intro sequence.

In addition, there is a hidden cheat on this screen to view the ending: highlight Super Macho Man, then hold L and press Right on Controller 1. The cursor will move offscreen. Press Start to jump to the best ending with no fights lost. The personal record times will show as 3'00"00".

Notably, all of these cheats went undiscovered for 28 years, only being found in August 2022.
