Giga Wrecker is a physics*-based Metroidvania-esque puzzle-platformer about a teenage girl named Reika trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic robot invasion with the help of her trusty magnetic cyborg arm and some time-travel shenanigans.

In classic Game Freak fashion, the game got an enhanced re-release as Giga Wrecker Alt. It was exclusive to consoles, which basically screwed over everyone who bought the game on Steam in good faith during the Early Access period given that many - if not all - of the features added for Alt. had been promised for the PC version first.

* Physics might not work as expected.

Original Design
GigaWrecker MagneticGirl Pitch.png

A whole sequence for the playable character's running animation. It appears to be based on the original design for the protagonist seen in Masayuki Onoue's original pitch document known as "Magnetic Girl". It's worth noting this one has 12 frames of animation, whereas in contrast the final design's only uses 8 frames.

At one point before the Early Access release the icons for the Skill tree were hexagonal-shaped. In the final game they are all square.

Early version of a cutscene leftover of the early-access builds. The lighting is a lot brighter and inaccurate to the scene, and Reika's expression and Amane's head are slightly different.

Gameplay

"Surveillance Video" Levels

In the original Steam release, Amane was only briefly playable during the prologue for the basic controls' tutorial and a small intermission before the final act. This was later changed in Giga Wrecker Alt. with the addition of an optional extra chapter to further flesh out the story and add variety to the gameplay with her unique set of abilities.

This content was originally planned to come to the Steam version (alongside many of the other features from the Alt. version) and can already be found in the game files under "stage06_dlc1" but can't be accessed through regular means if not by editing the save file with Notepad++.
