I am a postdoc researcher at Institute of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, National Taiwan University. I am interested in the systematics and evolution of Coleoptera. I was PhD student of the Australian National University and Australian National Insect Collection, CSIRO. My PhD topic is the Systematics and Evolutionary Biology of the Coleoptera Associated with Cycads in Australia. Besides, I work on the taxonomy of soldier beetles (Cantharidae) and some small groups of Tenebrionoidea as well.

Among these, intraspecific cryptic invasions, characterized by the spread of nonnative genotypes within a species, present unique challenges for detection and management. Despite the well-documented influence of invasive ants on ecosystems, instances of intraspecific cryptic ant invasions have rarely been documented. This study focused on the black cocoa ant, Dolichoderus thoracicus (Smith 1860), which has been increasingly reported as a pest in Taiwan over the past decade. In this study, we utilized a genome-wide approach employing multiplexed inter-simple sequence repeats genotyping by sequencing to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms across the D. thoracicus populations, elucidating the variations in the genetic population structure of the species in Taiwan. Our findings confirmed the occurrence of intraspecific cryptic invasions, demonstrating the coexistence of native and nonnative lineages, along with potential hybridization events between them. This study underscores the critical role of comprehensive genetic analysis in uncovering the complex dynamics of species invasions.

In March 2021, two larvae of Lissapterus Deyrolle, 1870, were collected beneath decaying wood alo... more In March 2021, two larvae of Lissapterus Deyrolle, 1870, were collected beneath decaying wood along the Bar Mountain Circuit in New South Wales, Australia. The larvae were reared using a mixture of litter from their original habitat and soft wood from a decaying Eucalyptus tree under laboratory conditions. One of the larvae successfully pupated and emerged in January 2022. Morphological comparisons confirmed the species as L. pelorides (Westwood, 1855), which is endemic to the rainforest zone at the border of New South Wales and Queensland in eastern Australia. Moreover, spatial analyses were conducted based on the open-source biodiversity data and Geographic Information System to provide preliminary environmental information about the natural habitat of L. pelorides.
