N: Nicotine Abuse
Come on, admit it. You’re tried it—at least once.
My best friend (yeah, I know you're reading this and remembering!) and I used to buy cigarettes in high school during a less strict era and smoke them during lunch. “Smoke” is a relative term. We never inhaled and mostly just held them to look cool. I mean, isn’t that the initial point of smoking? To look different from most and to be a bit of a rebel? Luckily, it never stuck with either of us. In fact, I always wound up with a sore throat and headaches. But for some, the trial stage leads to addiction. So not cool, honestly! Have you ever kissed a smoker? Yeah…not quite the same as a minty-breath kiss.

Hello, my friend.. Never any cigarettes in my home as I was growing up. My dad nor my mom ever smoked, and neither did I. My first husband did, however, and because I had asthma, I suffered greatly during those nine years, and had no clue (Back in the 1950's). I've seen a lot of people in my lifetime suffer from those cancer sticks. I never was tempted to smoke, and feel great sorrow for those who do. Best regards to you, Ruby
ReplyDeleteso...i grew up with parents that smoke. it disgusted me enough to never want to smoke. i tried it after my divorce; i was 30. it was gross and made me vomit! happy a to z!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a government subsidized industry. Talk about health care costs and major addiction problems . . . this is one product that can almost guarantee a lot of both.
ReplyDeleteMy dad let me try one when I was a kid. It was disgusting and had the desired effect - I never wanted to do it.
ReplyDeleteMother smoked, and it killed her. When I was a child, she begged me never to start -- so I didn't -- my sense of humor coupled with limited funds helped there. I imagined myself looking like a dragon with smoke wisping out of my mouth and dollar bills burning between my fingers! :-)
ReplyDeleteBoth my parents smoked, but Dad stopped when I was six... Mom on the other hand died at only 66 from complications due to smoking over two packs a day...
ReplyDeleteLike you, I tried it for about thirty seconds and threw the rest of the pack away. GROSS! There is not ONE THING I like about smoking...
I never tried smoking cigarettes, but I have smoked pot.
ReplyDeleteI tried smoking a cigarette one time and nearly coughed up my lungs. I'm glad I never had any desire to try it again.
ReplyDeleteCigarettes are a great example of marketing over common sense.

I never ever tried it...I get pretty freaked out about my health, so one look at those posters that show you what happens when you smoke was enough to turn me away. That one commercial with the lady with horrible health issues from smoking who goes through her daily routine for us freaks me out.
ReplyDeleteI have kissed a smoker. It's rather sexy if I remember (it was many many years ago.) Funny about smoking-- people practice starting to get good at it, and then years later they try everything to quit.
ReplyDeleteMy parents smoked. The smell was so disgusting I never smoked. SMELL BAD!!

I've never been a smoker. Of course I was a dumb high school kid, so I tried a few times. The burning throat, the coughing, the disgusting smell... no thanks.
