At TikTok, we care about your safety while using the app. That’s why we provide a number of safety tools and resources that allow you to control privacy preferences and access content that's most relevant or appropriate for you or your family.
What is Restricted Mode on TikTok?
Restricted Mode on TikTok limits exposure to content that may not be comfortable for everyone, such as content that contains mature or complex themes. Some features are unavailable if you use Restricted Mode, including access to the Following feed, going LIVE, and gifting on LIVE. Restricted Mode can be turned on or off at any time. Parents and guardians can also manage Restricted Mode for their teens through Family Pairing.
How to manage Restricted Mode
To turn Restricted Mode on or off:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Content preferences.
4. Tap Restricted Mode.
5. Follow the steps in the app to set or enter a passcode, then turn Restricted Mode on or off. If this is your first time turning on Restricted Mode, you'll need to tap Turn on before you can set a passcode.
A few things to know about Restricted Mode:
• If you have multiple accounts, you must turn Restricted Mode on for each account separately.
• If you're a parent or guardian, you can turn Restricted Mode on for your teen's account through Family Pairing.

What is Comment Care Mode?
Comment Care Mode gives you more control over your experience on TikTok by applying additional filters to the comments posted on your content. Turning it on filters comments that are inappropriate, offensive, and have been flagged by yourself or others.
How to manage Comment Care Mode
To turn Comment Care Mode on or off:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Privacy.
4. Tap Comments.
5. Tap Comment Care Mode.
6. Turn the setting on or off, then tap Save.

What are keyword filters?
You can set up keyword filters to tailor the content in your supported feeds on TikTok, such as the For You and Following feeds.
Note: Depending on where you signed up for TikTok, you may not have access to filter keywords in some feeds.
How to manage your keyword filters
To add keyword filters:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Content preferences, then tap Filter keywords.
4. Tap Add keyword, then enter a word or hashtag that you'd like to filter and select the feed(s) that you'd like to filter keywords from. You can add up to 100 keywords.
5. Tap Save.
Keep in mind that certain keywords can't be filtered.
To edit or delete keyword filters:
1. In the TikTok app, tap Profile at the bottom.
2. Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top, then select Settings and privacy.
3. Tap Content preferences, then tap Filter keywords.
4. To edit, tap the keyword and adjust, then tap Save. To delete:
༚ Tap the Delete button next to the keyword on the list, then tap Delete again to confirm.
༚ Tap the keyword, then tap Delete keyword. Tap Delete again to confirm.
Note: If you're a parent or guardian, you can manage keyword filters for your teen through Family Pairing.
To filter hashtags directly from a post or ad in the For You feed:
1. In the TikTok app, press and hold on the post, then tap Not interested. You can also tap the Share button on the side, and tap Not interested.
2. Tap Details at the bottom.
3. Select which option you prefer below Not interested.
4. Tap Details again at the bottom to display a list of hashtags found on the post.
5. Select the hashtags you'd like to filter, then tap Submit.
