Special Delivery

Hello, friends! I hope this finds you doing well.  Today I'm sharing a card made for Inspired By, which is a new-to-me challenge, and Just Us Girls. I'm also joining the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is to make a slimline card.

It's funny, I had been looking through some of my stamp sets and was longing to find the opportunity to use one particular set.  Then, the very next day, I followed a link to Inspired By and found my chance to use this image! I was inspired by the pitcher and all the pretty pink.

I absolutely adore this pitcher and pretty bouquet of flowers and had fun coloring it with Copic markers, after which it was cut out with coordinating dies.  The sentiment is from a separate stamp set and was also cut out with a matching die.

As I began to put the card together, I remembered I had the stitched and scallop edged slimline panels left over from another project.  The pink scalloped panel has a diamond design stenciled on it with white pigment ink.  Those two panels were adhered directly to the 8 3/4" x 3 3/4" white card base.  I embossed a piece of Desert Storm card stock with a wood plank folder, trimmed it down, lightly ink blended some Distress ink on the edges, then added it to the base to give the pitcher something to "stand" on.  Next, the flowers and sentiment were popped up on foam tape, and finally I added a couple of pink clay hearts above the sentiment and scattered a few dew drops around the rest of the card.

Thanks so much for visiting, I really appreciate it!  Take care, especially those of you getting hit with the ice and snow storms.

Loads of Love

Hello, friends!  I hope all is well with you.  Today I'm sharing a card made for the current theme challenge at The Paper Players, where lovely Anne Marie has asked us to use hearts or stars.  I'm also joining the Double D challenge, where the theme is Valentine Love, and the current Just Us Girls Word Week Challenge, which is "Valentine".

I recently bought the Big Pickup Tailgate stamp and die set, knowing it would be a fun one for lots of cards for different occasions, especially since we have lots of friends and family members that love cars and trucks. Using the big die, I made a shaped card for my husband for Valentine's Day, because he's one that loves his pickup. There's also a separate stamp set with the front of the truck, which just might have to make its way to my craft room one day in the near future LOL!

How fun is that?  I started by stamping the pick up along with the pile of hearts that came from another coordinating stamp set.  They were colored with Copic markers then cut with the matching dies. Next I took a sheet of white card stock for the base, folded it in half and die cut the pickup except for the very top, leaving a top fold hinge.  The colored tail gate was also die cut with it's own separate die, then I stamped and white heat embossed the large LOVE U.  After that cooled down, I used a Copic marker to add a bit of shading on the right side of the letters so they would stand out a bit better.

The colored pickup was adhered to the pickup card base, then the tailgate and pile of hearts added with foam tape.  I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the hearts, the rear lights and the windows to finish things off.  Below is a photo of the card standing up and taken at an angle so you can see part of the card base.  This was so much fun to make, I look forward to doing more in the future!

Thanks so much for visiting, I always appreciate it!  Take care and stay safe!

Bear Hugs

Hello friends!  Yes, I'm back with a second post today, this one for the current challenges at The Paper Players and Just Us Girls.

Laurie has brought us a very fun Tic Tac Toe challenge (stencil, markers, blue for my card) and the masking was great inspiration for putting these images together.

I started off by stamping and masking the sweet little bear and the chocolate truffles on a panel of white.  Next I lightly stenciled the heart background with pink ink in the upper half of the panel.  It's rather faint in the photos but shows up nicely IRL.  Once the stenciling was complete, the masks were removed and the images colored with Copic markers.  I did make a mistake in my masking order, putting the bear in front of the truffle with the heart so it looked like he was stepping on it!  Yikes! To remedy that, I stamped, colored and fussy cut a second one, adding it to the panel with foam tape the panel was trimmed down to 3.75 x 5 ".

I wanted a pink shadow for the hugs die cut but none of my card stock matched well enough, so I took a scrap of white cardstock and used Copic markers to create a pink ombre look that matched the colored images.  The word hugs was die cut 3 times, adhered to the shadow then added to the panel, along with the "sending you" sentiment strip.  The panel was added to the blue card base with foam tape.  Lastly, I painted the big and little hearts with a shimmer pen, then added Glossy Accents to the nose of the bear, as well as the sprinkles on the left-hand truffle and the heart on the one in front of the bear.  I love how this turned out!

Thanks for visiting, I always appreciate it so much!  I hope you're remaining safe and healthy. Take care!

Tender Blooms

Hello and welcome!  I have a card to share with you today, one I made for the current challenges at Just Us Girls, where we are to use a stencil, and Addicted to Stamps, where the theme is Make Your Mark.

I'm also joining the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where the theme is to Use Something New.  The stamp set I used for this card is new.

My card today is very Spring or Summer-like, which is always nice in the dead of winter here in Boise!

The Tender Blooms stamp from Waffle Flower was stamped on a piece of white cardstock and colored with Copic markers, then cut with the coordinating die.  On a panel of Bristol, I used green ink at the bottom and then a cloud stencil in the sky with blue ink.  This panel was then cut with a slimline stitched rectangle die and adhered to the white base with fun foam for a bit of dimension.

The stamped image is quite large, roughly 5.5 x 6 inches, so I had to trim it down to fit the slimline format.  I used a combination of scissors and my guillotine paper cutter to selectively cut it so I could leave that one pink flower at the top left. I wanted to ground the bottom of the flower image, so I ink blended and die cut a grassy edge that was adhered over top to cover it.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and has a fabulous matching die.  Once the sentiment was adhered, I added a few clear dew drops to finish things off.

Thanks for visiting, I appreciate it so much!  I hope you're remaining safe and healthy, and have a great week!

Happy Together

Hello, friends and welcome back!  I'm sharing a card made for three challenges - Just Us Girls (my 2nd entry this week), Inkspirational Challenges and the current Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers, where Karen has chosen Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana. I also used colors similar to Night of Navy and Mossy Meadow, both considered "neutrals" by Stampin' Up and allowed by the color challenge.

Pondering what to use as something in my home, I remembered one of my favorite stamps from Penny Black with a row of cactus and succulents.  Since we do have plants, including a large succulent, I thought this would work perfectly.

The image was stamped on a panel of white and colored with Copic markers.  I began with a light shade of the grape color, filling in the background, then using a piece of gauze soaked with Copic colorless blender to add some texture to the background.  Once that dried, I colored the rest of the images in the challenge colors along with navy, mossy green and a gray for the "table" the plants are sitting on.

With the coloring complete I used one of the A7 rectangle dies from Waffle Flower to create a long and thin panel, matted it on a slightly larger piece of Gorgeous Grape and added it to the white card base with foam tape. The base ended up being 4 x 6" which I can mail in a 5 x 7" envelope or make a custom one.

The sentiment was die cut three times from the grape card stock as well and glued together for some layered dimension.  The sentiment doesn't come with a shadow die, but since it's a solid, I was able to trace around the outside and fussy cut to create my own shadow.  This was adhered to the main panel then a tiny green heart added for the final touch.

Thanks so much for visiting, I always appreciate it!  I hope you are continuing to stay safe and healthy and enjoy the upcoming weekend!

Hello!

Happy New Year!  Welcome back to my blog where to day I am sharing a card made for two challenges.

For my card I used a beautiful new stamp from Simon Says Stamp.  It has some gorgeous images in it; I settled on using the large floral spray.

The image was colored with Copic markers.  I decided that I needed to use markers in more muted colors, which I am not typically drawn to, and I have to say I love how it turned out!  When the coloring was complete, the spray was cut with the coordinating die.

The sentiment was die cut from Pretty Peacock card stock 5 times and layered for some nice dimension.  To create the card a panel cut with a cover die was trimmed down and adhered to the white card base with foam tape.  Next the flowers were added, also using foam tape, then the sentiment glued into place.  I used a shimmer pen on the flowers and berries, then covered the berries with Glossy Accents.  No jewels or sequins this week, I really like how it looked as is!

Thanks so much for visiting, I really appreciate it!  I hope you're continuing to stay safe and healthy and enjoy the remainder of your week.

Sweater Weather

Hello friends and welcome back!  I have a card to share that I made for the current Just Us Girls challenge.

I have made only a few slimline, or long and skinny cards, but I've found they're great for creating a scene card.  Although we're in the midst of Summer right now, I wanted to use a cute stamp set I recently acquired, Sweater Weather from MFT.

I love those woodland creatures all wrapped up in their sweaters, some holding their coffee cups!  I started by creating a background on Bristol paper, using a scene builder stamp with the trees, bushes and hills.  It was made to use on an A2 card so I just used a sepia Micron pen to extend the hills all the way across the panel.  Next the sky and the ground were ink blended with Distress Inks.  Then I was able to plan my scene with the various critters.  I actually pulled the two squirrels and the log from another MFT stamp set to fill out the scene.  All the critters were stamped, colored with Copic markers and die cut with coordinating dies.  Because the coloring so obscured the bear's eyes, I used a black glaze pen to make them visible.

Back to the panel, I used Copic markers to color the trees, then lined the panel up in my Misti to stamp the sentiment.  After adhering the panel to the card base, All the animals were adhered either with liquid adhesive or foam tape.  I LOVE how this turned out, it just makes me chuckle every time I look at it!  And of course it will be perfect to send to one of my girl friends in Oregon who was always the organizer for activities for our group of friends there!

Thanks so much for visiting, I really appreciate it!  I hope you'll come back by tomorrow afternoon when I will have my DT card for the new Tic Tac Toe Challenge!

For the Birthday Girl

Hello friends, I hope you are remaining safe and healthy!  Today I have a card to share that I made for two challenges.  I received some crafty goodness in the mail Monday and immediately set about using it!

Honey Bee's new release included the Farm Fresh Flowers stamp set, which is right up my alley!  I inked up the images and set about coloring with my Copic markers, using colors from the inspiration photo.

Once the coloring was complete, the images were die cut with the matching dies.  The images are large, plus I wanted to use the birthday die and stamp set that came in my order, and that die cut birthday is the width of a standard A2 card.  So, what to do?  In my background stash I found this ink blended panel that complimented the flower colors so well, I had to use it.  Fortunately it was 4.5 x 6" so I could create a custom sized card, which ended up being 5 x 6.5".

The ink blended panel was trimmed down to fit on the card base, then splattered with water and shimmer spray.  After using a paper towel to pick up the liquid, I sprayed the entire panel with shimmer spray.  When the panel dried, a frame was die cut into it and a white frame added in order to ground the vase.  The die cut sentiment was cut four times from white card and layered up, then adhered to the vellum shadow and added to the card along with the additional sentiment words that were stamped and die cut.  The final steps were to use an aqua shimmer pen on all the flowers and add a few jewels.

Thanks so much for visiting, it's always greatly appreciated!  Enjoy the rest of your week and stay safe!
