DAY 3, RELAXING DAY WITH HIPPOS
I believe most of you have ever seen or heard about hippopotamus 🦛 usually shortened as hippos.
Our day three of the safari was a calm one with no activity just relaxing and having a simple walk near the Kazinga channel; one of the water bodies with the highest concentration of the hippos and nile crocodiles in the whole world 🌍.
We were so lucky to find these amazing moments of the hippos yawning and playing in water and offered us an opportunity for photography.
I'm always very happy to show you such moments through photos of cultures, animals and landscapes of Uganda.
As the sky was changing, threatening to 🌧️, a dominant hippo popped out of the water to breathe and I was ready enough to capture him before he goes back. An adult hippo spends about five to six minutes submerged under water while a young one spends two to three minutes with their ears and nose closed.
They are strictly herbivorous and feed during the nights and spend the whole day in the water. While the dominant males and mothers with calves are more aggressive, other members of the school tend to be calm.
Hippos usually yawn as a threatening display and also to stretch their jaws as the same way we humans do stretch our bodies during joga.
After the hippo walk, we came back to the restaurant for the relaxation.
I will always keep you posted about the beauty of wildlife and culture of Uganda.
