Tell your story#21 : The Broken Promise
It was 2004 december when we went to our village. Our village means where there my grandfather's home located. He passed away long time ago (before my birth) and his children (my uncles and aunts) are now the heir of his property. We rarely went to the village because of schooling throughout the year.
That year it was winter vacation in school so we went there to visit our uncles and aunt. It was a nice village and all relatives were closer to each other. We had good time there. My cousins were very friendly and helpful. There I met a girl name Lima. We were same aged but she was my aunt, his father was the uncle of my father so she was my aunt and I was her niece. We became good friends and often played together.
Lima was very simple, calm and beautiful girl and I was very talkative and fickle. We became good friends and I never call her aunt because she was not elder to me. Lima and I spent beautiful and funny moments together. My parents were planning to come after our (mine and siblings) exam in 2006 so I promised Lima that I'll definitely come again when it will be December 2006. Lima trust me and we couldn't communicate because Lima's family was financially poor and couldn't afford buying phone.
Unfortunately my parents cancelled the plan and my promise to Lima was broken. I couldn't even got the chance to say her sorry. Next time we went to the village when it was 2009 December. But I couldn't met Lima again. I went to her house and asked about her to her sister and parents. Lima was beautiful so her parent planned her early marriage. She got married when she was under 16 years but it is valid in villages, no police case work there.
It was three years of my broken promise and such a misfortune that we never met again. Her family forced her to marry a man with wife and that wife can't conceive so he married Lima as his second wife. She was innocent and calm so she couldn't protest, considering the poverty of family she was ready to sacrifice her dream, study and married a man who already had a wife.
Lima was an innocent but the poverty of her family allow them to kill the dreams of her at her early age. My guilt will remain forever because I couldn't say sorry to her. I was a little girl and I couldn't travel alone at that time. My family decide and plan the travel time and place. My promise was broken but it was not my fault, I still miss my friend Lima and I have no more connection with the village. From this incident I learn that, we shouldn't promise anyone when we are emotional or things are not in our hand to control.

I read your story though and it is true. You and Lima had a very good friendship. But admitting the situation, you could not meet her as promised. It is very sad. But if you are lucky, inshallah you will be able to meet her. Yes, girls are married at a young age in the village. However, child marriage has decreased a lot compared to before.Thank you so much for mentioning me.

thanks friend @lhorgic
Very nice your post you mentioned here the life story of girl named Lima who is a victim of child marriage and village girls mostly face such victimization but they have nothing to do and they are very young then they can't do anything. They get married before they understand anything about life and they have no idea about life what to do then they don't have anything to do so this kind of thing happens.
