Basionym
- Helleborus viridis var. cyclophyllus A.Braun, Ind. Sem. Berol. 1861: 14 (1861).
  - Typus: [Greece, Sterea Ellas] "in m. Parnassi reg. abietina loco dicto Drako, alt. 4000 ped.", 8 Jul. 1857, Guicciardi in Heldreich, Herb. Norm. no. 647 (Lectotype, designated by Strid (1986: 202): G-BOIS, isolectotype: BM). Material sent by Heldreich to A. Braun was cultivated in the Berlin Botanic Garden from 1858.
