Workspace Wednesday

I said that each Wednesday I would be posting pictures of my workspace. Workspace Wednesday came from Marcy Penner and I love the idea of the glimpse into what is currently on my desk, and I wanted it to be motivation to keep working in my creative space.

So what happened?  Not even this has drawn me to my space. In my last post I said that we were on the home straight with our studio.  Seems not, it has taken another month for one reason and another to get to what now seems like the ending.  The floor is down today Yay!!! and so that just leaves the bathroom and toilet as major things to finish.  So in the meantime while I had finished the painting we have had to wait for the flooring to be ready and have had WOOFERS (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) on board.  It has been great to get the gardens planted and tidied up but there hasn't been much space for anything else.  And I have been frustrated.  It is so hard to sit down at my desk and look out at our studio space and want to be in it creating there.

So what is on my desk at the moment?  A reminder that I am heading in the right direction.  Right now I am helping my niece put together a photo board for her 21st.  Loving pulling bits and pieces out and putting them together how she wants it.

But it would be sooooo much easier in the studio right!!!

Workspace Wednesday

Each Wednesday I will be posting pictures of my workspace.  Workspace Wednesday came from Marcy Penner and I love the idea of the glimpse into what is currently on my desk,  and it gives me motivation to keep working in my creative space.

So this week I have to ask the question which space?  My desk is quite neglected as I have been working in my new studio space painting, getting it ready for fittings.  On the home stretch it would seem.

As for my desk a wonderful parcel arrived from Ali Edwards for Week in the Life which starts next week.  A nice break opening the goodies.  This is the first time I will be taking part.  You can read more about it here.  Ali will be sharing her week on her blog.  Looking forward to it.

Workspace Wednesday

Each Wednesday I will be posting pictures of my workspace.  Workspace Wednesday came from Marcy Penner and I love the idea of the glimpse into what is currently on my desk, and it gives me motivation to keep working in my creative space.

With the boys getting back into school routines the desk has been a little neglected.  With a little bit of time I decided to have a play.

I have been adding to my collection of mists and have really just been using them for drips and splatters.  So I found a dropper at the art shop to add to what I can do with them. The colour spritzer works really well to control the spread of the colour. Fun!

Cards for Him

So I headed away for the weekend to our church girl's getaway weekend.  So good for the soul.  We had some time to choose something that we wanted to do and so I headed to the craft spot for some creative time.  I started out with some cards for boys as I need to add to my collection.  A little bit here and something else there and they came together.

It was all the more easy with this handy tote where I keep a few bits and pieces, including papers in colour lots.  It keeps all the little bits together and is so easy to throw into my cart when I am creating away from my space.  It also gives a challenge to use what I have.

Workspace Wednesday

Each Wednesday I will be posting pictures of my workspace.  Workspace Wednesday came from Marcy Penner and I love the idea of the glimpse into what is currently on my desk, and it gives me motivation to keep working in my creative space.

After a great stretch of scrapbooking the stories keep coming.  I started putting together these gems for a set of pages for the boys when they went to the rugby game.  Right now they are packed away ready to head off for a weekend away that includes a bit of crafting time.   Looking forward to it.

The weather is perfect for scrapbooking

My sister has been to visit.  Spring is rather unpredictable and after a great start to the holiday weather where we were out and about every day it turned to custard.  Like four seasons in one day!  But no worries as the weather was perfect for scrapbooking.  Great having the chance to use the bits and pieces that I put together recently.

I have covered the photo on this one as it has other children in it.

Lots of fun

Tell your Story - Prompts

I have subscribed to Ali Edwards Story Stamps.  Each month a new stamp set arrives and in the classroom you get loads of great ideas and see what others are creating.

One of the stamps in Ali Edwards stamp set was Currently.  I wanted to do a page of each of my boys.  She had used a similar design using an enlarged picture of her daughter.  So great to capture where they are right now.

Loving choosing pictures and using them to tell a different story than just what was happening in the photo.

Use it or lose it

The last of my old kits.  This one seemed to be the hardest.  Certainly not a colour combo that I would put together.  The challenge was choosing pictures to go with it.  After finding a few I decided to do some stories that didn't have pictures.  I dug through my goodies and filled a bowl with bits and pieces to add.

And this is what I came up with.  I had seen this layout using up alphas and decided to give it a go.

Laying out all the pages and cutting papers and adding in embellishments worked well.

This was definitely my favourite.  Mostly because I had help choosing the different bits with my son.  He loves playing along.

These next two are more non photo layouts.  I have done a few layouts using this idea that came from a challenge day that picked up on the idea from this website Unphotographable.  Sometimes we don't have our camera, sometimes we can't take a photo or shouldn't.  Here is a solution when you still want to tell the story.

And with just a few bits left this one was the last.  Just a touch of the original colour scheme.

Workspace Wednesday

Each Wednesday I will be posting pictures of my workspace.  Workspace Wednesday came from Marcy Penner and I love the idea of the glimpse into what is currently on my desk, and it gives me motivation to keep working in my creative space.

I used to go for long spaces between crafting and it took a long time to get back into it once I did find the time.  With all my organising of late I am finding it easier to sit and do little bits here and there.  So last week I bought some little bowls to fill with goodies.  I came across The Thrifty Scrapbooker blog through the Workspace Wednesday links and have been enjoying her process videos.  Lots of little gems to take away from it, including the way that she uses her stash.  Amazing what can be done with even the smallest scraps and a corner rounder punch.

So I went through my stash and I was amazed at how many goodies that I have that I can use for extra details when I look at them in a different way.  I have also cut dies of tags, tickets, banners and tabs to be stamped as I use them.  My bowls are now filled with goodies ready to be used.

Seems I have a love for turquoise just like Suse!

I have subscribed to Ali Edwards story stamps and the stories keep coming.  Although I have slowed down a bit as the school holidays are in full swing here and the weather has been amazing so we are making the most of it.  Taking lots of great pictures for next month though.  You can see more of my layouts using this months stamps here.
