Happy Holidays

Good Morning
When I saw this new stencil for August from A Colorful Life Designs, I thought Christmas.
And since it's never too soon to start on our holiday cards meet the new
This stencil has so many possibilities.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by putting a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and put the Changing Triangles stencil over my paper.
  • I inked it up with some Cracked Pistachio and some Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink.
  • I splattered the panel with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • Next, I inked up another panel exactly the same way as I wanted to cut up the triangles for my design.
  • While that dried, I stamped and die cut the sentiment using some more of the Rustic Wilderness DOX ink.
  • I cut the stenciled panels up to create the design.  I wanted a large tree in the middle to represent Christmas tree.
  • I glued the cut pieces onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a piece of dark green and then finally onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I use some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the bottom and then found this silver snowflake in my stash to add to the top of the tree.

BIG Merry Wishes

Welcome
As a cardmaker, is it ever too soon to start making cards for the holidays?
When I saw this newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and put the Calibrated Lines stencil over my paper.
  • I inked over the whole stencil with lots of Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink. To add a bit more richness to the dark red, I randomly inked with some Dusty Concord DOX ink to deepen the colour.
  • I added some perforated dots between the rows to add more interest.  (Sorry, that is a bit hard to see in the photo)
  • I die cut the 'Merry' from a piece of matching red cardstock, then glued it onto the white cardstock shadow outline.
  • I found a scrap piece of silver cardstock in my stash and die cut the snowflake from that.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of matching red cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the sentiment across the front and then tucked the silver snowflake under the corner of the sentiment.
  • I added a gem to the center of the snowflake and then around the bottom edge of the sentiment to help balance it all out.

Big and Bold Thank You

Welcome
I had fun creating today's card using 2 of the new for August stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called;

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a square piece of white cardstock that was 3 3/4" and placed it onto my Make Art Station.
  • I put the Alternating Squares stencil over that and inked it up with some Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink.  I like the dark, rich tones of that colour.
  • I placed another piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and this time, I put the Parasols stencil over that.  I inked just the inside round of that one with some more Lumberjack Plaid DOX ink.  To add a bit of dimension, I added some Villainous Potion just in the center area.
  • I used a circle die to cut the round and then I fussy cut around all the spokes to give it more of the look of a flower.  I glued that onto a slightly larger white circle.
  • I stamped and die cut the sentiment with the same red.
  • I glued the stenciled card front onto a 4 1/4" white square card base and used some foam tape to add the circle detail.
  • Lastly, I used some more foam tape to pop the sentiment up over the center.

Hello to You!

Good Moring
Meet the new for August stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:
When I saw this wonderful stencil, I had so many ideas about how I wanted to use it.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the Calibrated Lines stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink and set it aside.
  • I took another piece of white cardstock, placed the stencil back over it again and this time, inked with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
  • Next, I took the 2 panels and cut them into strips following along with the distinctive line design.
  • I did some paper weaving with the strips, alternating the colours as I went along and glued that onto a piece of white cardstock to stabilize it. I glued that onto a piece of navy cardstock.
  • I die cut the 'HELLO' letters from white cardstock and glued them onto the word shadow that I cut from another piece of navy cardstock.
  • I glued the panel onto an A2 sized card base and used some foam tape to pop the sentiment up.

Tropical Hello

Good Morning
This card was a fun one to create using the new from A Colorful Life Designs stencil called

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of white cardstock that I inked up with some Cracked Pistachio and some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink.
  • Next, I placed the Swirling Droplets stencil over the inked cardstock and rubbed on some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink until the whole card front was inked.
  • I placed the cardstock into the Monstera Leaves EB folder and ran it through my machine.  By stenciling the background and then embossing, it added great detail to the leaves.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • While that dried, I die cut the 'HELLO' letters out and glued it onto the shadow die cut background.
  • I glued the dried panel onto a piece of pale green cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card front.

Rainy Day in NY

Good Morning
I made today's card for a challenge over at Splitcoast.
The challenge was to create a monochromatic scene.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock, then placed it into my Misti with the stamp.
  • Next, I inked the stamp up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink and stamped it.
  • Leaving the stamp in place, I moved my card panel slightly up and over, then inked up the stamp again with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink and stamped to get the offset, repeated image.
  • Using a wet paintbrush, I went over the ink to blur out the lines and make it look more like a rainy, wet day.
  • I decided not to add a sentiment so I could use this card for any occasion.
  • After the panel was dry, I glued it onto a piece of blue cardstock, then onto a white A2 sized card base.

Many thanks for coming by and taking a look.

You Are a Classic

Happy Friday and Welcome!
Today's card is a simple one using and old pair of jeans and my Gel Plate.
A good masculine card to have on hand.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock first and got out my Gel Plate.
  • I pressed some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink onto my Gel Plate and using a brayer, I smoothed it all out on the plate.
  • Next, I took an old pair of my husband's jeans and pressed them onto the plate to transfer the details of the pants.
  • I lifted the pants off and took my white cardstock and rubbed over my plate to take the print.
  • When the piece was dry, I stamped the sentiment into the corner.
  • I glued the card front onto a piece of black cardstock, then onto an A2 card base.
  • To finish the card off, I added 5 silver gems under the sentiment.

Double Ginger Flowers

Welcome.
Today's card features this beautiful new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Double Ginger Flowers.
So easy to create different looks with the flowers on this stencil.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock that was 3 3/4" square.
  • I found the center point of my panel and then placed the cardstock onto my Make Art Station.
  • I masked around 1/4 of the panel as I wanted to stencil 4 x's.
  • I turned the stencil around so the outside point of the Double Ginger Flower stencil was touching the inside middle of my panel and inked it up with some Broken China Distress Oxide ink.
  • To add shading to my flower, I inked with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink right into the center area.
  • I repeated the above process 3 more times.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • While that dried, I stamped the sentiment from Simon Says with some Uncharted Mariner and die cut it out.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a 4 1/4" square note card.
  • Lastly, I added 3 silver gems around the sentiment.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station, then placed the Tropical Flowers stencil over that.  I inked it up with some Villainous Potion Distress Oxide ink.

  • I remove that stencil and positioned the Tic Tac Toe mask over the flowers and inked that up with some Shaded Lilac DOX ink.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.

Torn Paper Stenciling- Shine Bright

Hello and Welcome.
I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC Challenge (Technique Lovers) over at Splitcoast Stampers.
So today, I decided to pair up the Star Stretch stencil from A Colorful Life Designs with some torn paper.
It's a fun technique to use to get a totally different look from your stencils.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock and using some scraps of paper, I tore strips that I would use as masks with the Star Stretch stencil.
  • I laid the the torn pieces of scrap paper over the white cardstock, then placed the stencil over that and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed the stencil and the masks and roughly repositioned them over the areas already inked, matched up the stencil to the pattern already laid down and inked over that with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
  • I repeated the above steps and lastly, inked with some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink.  I think using the torn pieces of paper gave the stencil a very unique look.
  • I removed all the masks and the stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock and fussy cut it out.
  • I inked up another scrap of white paper with some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink, splattered with the white again and die cut a star from that.  I did outline the edges with my white Posca pen to help it be a bit more visible over the background.
  • I glued the stenciled piece onto some navy cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to mount the star in the corner and glued the sentiment onto that.

Monochromatic Leaves

Good Morning
Today's card features the Spring Foliage stencil, one of my favs from the new release at A Colorful Life Designs.
This card came together so quickly using my Gel Plate.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out my Gel plate, the Spring Foliage stencil and some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
  • I pressed the ink directly onto my Gel Plate and brayered it smooth, then placed the stencil onto the plate.  I rubbed some white cardstock over the plate to lift the print.
  • It was a good print but I thought it needed more so, I laid the stencil back over the print and inked over it with some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink.  By moving the stencil slightly off to where it was for the first print, I was able to give it a great shadow look.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment, then splattered the whole panel with my white Posca pen.
  • I glued the finished panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a piece of matching blue cardstock.
  • I glued it onto an A2 sized card base and done.

Snowy Night

 Hello and Welcome
A quick Mini Slimline card using some leftover pieces I had in my stash.
For all measurements go HERE.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I went through my stash of backgrounds and found this one.  It was a piece of cardstock that I had rolled my brayer onto to remove the excess ink when I was Gel Plate printing.  Instant background!
  • I glued the inked panel onto a piece of white cardstock to fit the front of my Mini Slimline.
  • I splattered with my Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • Next, I die cut the deer scene and glued that over the blue inked piece.
  • I added a pre-printed sentiment using some foam tape.
  • I glued it onto a 6 x 3" card base.
