You’ve probably heard me talk about this before, but my number one tip for pretty much all dye plants is to allow them to soak in the dye for longer than you might first think. The colour will continue to change and darken as it oxidises. Heat gently (never boil) then turn off the heat, leave the lid on and allow the plants to soak in the dye over night. Observe as the dye darkens and reheat if you like, then leave to soak for longer.
