Alexander Schmidt (born January 19, 1998 in Vienna) is an Austrian football player. He plays as forward for the Austrian Football Bundesliga club FC Blau-Weiß Linz.

Schmidt began his career at First Vienna FC. In 2012 he moved to the FC Red Bull Salzburg academy. In the summer of 2016 he became part of the FC Liefering squad in the 2nd league. [1] He made his debut in the second division in November 2016. He came on as a substitute for Robert Mudražija versus SC Austria Lustenau. [2]

For FC Red Bull Salzburg he was in the U-19 team for the UEFA Youth League. In the final game he scored the winning goal against Benfica. [3]

In December 2017, his contract was extended until May 2021. For the 2019/20 season he was loaned to the Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC. [4] For the 2020/21 season he moved to LASK. However, Schmidt was loaned directly to league rivals SKN St. Pölten. With the SKN he was relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the season. He returned to LASK for the 2021/22 season.[source?]

In September 2022, Schmidt moved to Portugal to FC Vizela. He then returned to Austria and moved to FK Austria Wien. [5] He made 18 Bundesliga appearances for Austria. For the 2024/25 season he then moved on within the league to FC Blau-Weiß Linz. [6]
