Valery Vasilyevich Gerasimov (Russian: Валерий Васильевич Герасимов, IPA: [vɐˈlʲerʲɪj vɐˈsʲilʲjɪvʲɪdʑ ɡʲɪˈrasʲɪməf]; born 8 September 1955) is a Russian General of the Army. He is the current Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He was appointed by President Vladimir Putin on 9 November 2012.[1]
