The second day is always the worst!!

Mr. Owen has had a rough day. They always say the second day is the worst, and today was just crummy. We had a restless night sleep in ICU and he went the entire night without any pain medications. Up until now, he's only had two doses of tylenol! I am amazed at how tough this little guy is. He definetly woke up feeling sore. We were ready and discharged by 10am! This is all of our stuff piled up on the couch. I'm not a light packer.
Before we said our goodbyes, Owen made an appearance on KTAR radio show. Owen went from full on crocodile tears to giving knuckles and saying "tEEEzzz" to the camera crew. The boy know how to please a crowd! He still looks crummy in the pictures they took, but at least he's not crying.
Check him out here..

Ktar is doing a radiothon at the hospital this week to raise money for PCH.

Owen gave knuckles and kisses to all his nurses and now we're home. Next up... dreamland.

Sorry he's feeling so crummy today...I'm sure it's expected though. Hopefully being home will make all of the difference!

I'm amazed at how much he ate last night! Wow! Go figure...now that he has the g-tube :) I bet you're so relieved though to have it finally...epecially with the meds he's taking! Maybe that's how we get these guys to eat- starve them, NPO for at least 12 hours then let them "go to town"!!!

Way to go Owen...you're such a tough little guy and truly one of our heroes.

Love and hugs to you guys and glad all is well~ Have a great weekend!

I remember that Lily was pretty sore after they closed her g-tube stoma. (She had it placed mere hours after birth in conjunction with a thoracotomy for a different issue, so she was on some pretty heavy duty pain meds that time.) Even though I know she has a pretty high pain tolerance, it was several days before I could wean her off the Percocet (which we chose because it's easier on the tummy) onto Tylenol. Hope tonight goes better for you! I'm sure you'll all be more comfortable in your own beds.

I read your blog thru my daughter Shannon's blog (Madi's Mended Heart)and I just have to say that Owen is one of the cutest, toughest, sweetest little things!! His smile is just contagious!
I love to check in to see how he's doing.....I will continue to keep Owen (your whole family) in my prayers!
p.s. Today My grandbaby (Madi) was sitting on my lap when I checked your blog and she was SOOO excited to see Owens picture, she kept wanting to come back thru out the day to see him over and over!! Owen has a new friend!!

You got to go home after one night? How jealous am I?? We were there for 4 sleepless days. Wow!
Hope the tylenol helps with the pain. 2 weeks from now he won't care one lick about it :)

Glad you're home and Owen did so well!
What an amazing little man you have!

Poor thing! I am so sorry he didn't rest well and has been cranky. I can't blame him though....it's amazing to me how well he handles everything that he's going through.

Here's hoping for good sleep tonight and good days from now on !!!!!!

Well of course he's grumpy - I would be too. :( Poor little thing. Well, he still looks adorable!

Oh, it breaks my heart that he had such a bummer of a day! I can understand, though, with no pain meds how hard that day must've been for him (and for you!). I will continue to pray for him ...

I hope and pray he is feeling better after his procedure and look forward to all your updates and especially the pics. Owen is such a cutie!! I am a first time "grammie" and my grandson is named Owen too...so your Owen is special to me.
