May Challenge Card

My May challenge kit arrived here the other day, and it's taken me a while to get to it. My bible study was postponed tonight so, I sat down to take on the challenge.

I'm not sure if I'm in love with this card, but here's what I came up with ....

Included in the kit was the big, yellow scalloped circle, the pink piece, the adorable pink dotted ribbon, two image layers, and 2 punched butterflies (in white).

I layered the image piece on the scalloped circle using dimensionals and added the butterflies to the circle using dimensionals, too. The butterflies and the image were colored using my Copics. I ran the pink layer through the Cuttlebug and added the great Swiss dot pattern to it. I thought that went well with the cute ribbon.

Here is an up-close view of the image and the butterflies.

I don't know what kind of paper, stamps, or ink were used for this kit, but it was a fun one to put together.

I took the extra pieces from the kit and made another little piece. I'm not sure what I can do with it because it ended up being a 4x4 square layer. I'm sure I'll find a use for it, though. :)

Of course, the coloring on the image was done with Copics. Life (from SU) was stamped with SU ink, and all of it was layered on pink SU paper. I love how the colors work together on this.

Here's an up-close picture of the image.

I really like the way the shading came out on this one.

I hope you've had a great day today and that you have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!!!!

My Entry Into The Big May Copic Giveaway

Winning is fun, isn't it?? It is, especially when you can win something totally exciting and totally useful! The Pen Addict has a blog candy contest going on right now that is fantastic for all of those Copic lovers out there! Wow. I would LOVE to win this one. As you know, I LOVE my Copics and use them any chance I get. The opportunity to get new ones is totally cool!

Copics are one of the most amazing mediums for coloring artwork that I've ever used. The incredible capacity to blend and shade with these markers makes them indespensible in my arsonal of crafting/art tools.

Check out the contest and try to win, too. Anyone that enters has a great chance!! Now .... I'm off to create something NEW so that I can get that 3rd entry in the contest!!! LOL!

Good luck, everyone!

Use the Tools!

Do you have a TON of tools, paper, embellies, and other miscellaneous goodies in your crafting haven?? I sure do. Today, I needed to (quickly) make a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law, as well as for my mom. My printer went on the fritz the other night, and that caused a delay in getting these done. Anyway, because I have SO many wonderful tools and goodies in my Haven, I was able to make a really cute gift - really quickly (we had dinner with my mother-in-law this evening for Mother's Day since we won't see her tomorrow).

Tools, tools, tools ..... That's what I used on this little project. My Cricut was used to cut the rounded-corner squares, the 2009, and the shadow of the 2009.

My Xyron was used to adhere everything - because it makes it easy, has a strong bond, and covers the entire piece.

The Bind-it-All was used to punch the holes and bind it.

Inside pictures ....

Jared's page.

Jaydin's page.

Jonah's page. Just took this picture today. :)

The ribbon was part of the SAB promotion that SU had and was placed between the decorative paper layer and the coaster on both the front and back of the book The coasters were sent to me from a friend on SCS (thanks, Kathy!!). The Bind-it-All rings used were brown, which fit the theme colors of the book. Those were sent to me by another SCS friend (thanks, Diana!!!) and are fabulously handy. :)

So ... all in all, I used the Xyron, Bind-it-All, Cricut, SCAL (to design and cut the 2009 and squares), some wonderful (.... and hoarded) paper, and ribbon. It's been a good day. :)

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Have a wonderful Saturday night, and a great, big, beautiful tomorrow .... Mother's Day!! Tell your mom that you love her and appreciate her.

Bible Study Week 6

Our Bible study is up to week 6 and had the theme of "Freedom in Christ" this week. This one was a HARD one to scrap, but I finally found my niche with it.

The book suggested that we look at things that symbolized bondage or slavery. I decided to take the 'free to be me' perspective. Because I care only what Christ thinks and what He expects from me, I am free from conforming to the expectations of this world and its beings. That's such a freeing thought for me.

The words were cut with the Cricut using SCAL and 2 different fonts on my computer. The picture on the right side is of me in my favorite jeans - complete with ripped knees. :) The picture on the left side is a close up of the knee of my jeans in black and white. The song "Free to be Me" by Francesca Battistelli exemplifies this theme for me. I added the chorus across the page on the ripped vellum.

Two corners on each picture were embellished with brass corner brads. Little brass brads hold the vellum across the page.

A piece of star ribbon was added at the bottom of this page.

As I said, this was a hard theme to scrap, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Have a wonderful Tuesday night and a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.

CHA-bing!! :)

I just ordered my tickets for the CHA Supershow in Orlando on July 31st and August 1st. I am super, duper excited!!!

If you are going to be in the Orlando area during this time, join us at the supershow. I am hoping to meet many online (SCS) friends while I'm there, as well as to spend a little craft cash. :)

Last Tuesday night, my Bible study did a layout on "Fun." Because nothing else has been created around here today, I thought I'd share that layout tonight. Let me know what you think.

This is the first page of the layout. The big letters were cut with chipboard and another layer of cardstock. The Cricut deep cut blade was used to cut the letters, but not the cardstock layer. SCAL was used to cut the letters from a font on my computer. Strips of paper were folded like an accordion and used to 'hang' pictures on the pages. This gave a whimsical feel to the pages. Small pieces of ribbon were used to make knots at the top of each hanging strip. That covered the plain top and added some interest and depth. Pictures and images were put under the accordion strips. This allowed more photos to be put on the page than would normally be possible.

Pictures were used that represented fun and laughter in my life. Other images were used, as well .... images that represent more fun and laughter. The designer paper used had the word "fun" all over it and was very appropriate paper for the layout. Several fun ribbons were used all over the pages. The word "Magic" was stamped all over the page because I really love the magic of Disney (World .... and the ship the Magic.).

This was a really fun layout for me. I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Have a wonderful night and a great, big, beautiful tomorrow. :)
