Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince (Metz, 28. august 1841 - nestao 16. septembra 1890) bio je francuski kemičar, inženjer, fotograf i pronalazač koji je prvi uspio snimiti film (pokretne slike) koristeći jednu kameru.[1][2] Od 1930. se naziva "Ocem kinematografije".[3] Rodom Francuz, živio je i radio u SAD i Britaniji, gdje je u gradu Leeds 1888. snimio filmove Roundhay Garden Scene i uličnu scenu Leeds Bridge koristeći kameru i Eastmanov papirni film,[4] nekoliko godina prije njegovih suparnika kao što su braća Lumière i Thomas Edison. Prije odlaska u SAD gdje je namjeravao demonstrirati svoj izum je u nikad razjašnjenim okolnostima nestao iz vlaka 16. septembra 1890.[1] Iako njegovo truplo i prtljaga nisu nikada pronađeni, stotinjak godina kasnije su u policijskim arhivama pronađene fotografije utopljenika koji je mogao biti on.[4] Le Princeov nestanak je omogućio Edisonu da sebi pripiše izum filma.
