End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a private communication system in which only communicating users can participate. As such, no one else, including the communication system provider, telecom providers, Internet providers or malicious actors, can access the cryptographic keys needed to converse.

End-to-end encrypted messages are encrypted with keys only available to the end-user for which they are intended. These messages cannot be decrypted by interstitial links on the delivery path, even the service owner. Contrast to messages that are decrypted for processing in a central location.
