WAW121 ~ Micah 7:7 ~ I Will Wait ~

Welcome!  It's time for another
inspirational challenge at Word Art Wednesday.

Check out the Word Art Wednesday site for all of the details including this week's digital scripture image, how to link your creation AND info on our fabulous prizes!

A special thank you to Flying Unicorn, Classy Cards-n-Such AND Daydream Designs
who provided our prizes this time!

This week we find our scripture in the Old Testament, specifically the book of Micah...

I used scraps for this project, bits and pieces scattered all over my craft table...  LITERALLY!  I created a pink 5.5 x 4.25 inch base with a layer of white card stock and pastel plaid DP.  The 1 inch wide banner scraps are from Recollections and The Paper Studio.  I added a Prima blossom with a few Martha Stewart punched  bits of greenery for interest.  A bit of lace trims the edges (top and bottom) of the sentiment panel.  I am SO glad spring is almost here!

Thanks for stopping in!

Until next time,

blessings...

North Coast Stamps April Release

Have you checked out North Coast Creations, the sister company of Our Daily Bread Designs yet? If you are into super cute critters and vintage stamps, NCC is the place to be. We are very excited to share with you a new release today! The Design Team members (also affectionately known as "The Coasters")  have created some beautiful cards!  For complete deets and all links please visit North Coast Creation's Blog .

Here's my card featuring the new image, Roses....

and here's a copy of the stamp set...  isn't it just FABULOUS???  I love all the vintage/country possibilities this beauty gives me!!!

For my card I used a dark red card stock base.  I layered coordinating DP on a white base.  I wanted my base to resemble a patchwork quilt, so I cut everything at angles and gently glued them together on my base.  I then trimmed everything down to fit.  I distressed all edges and added a bit of ink around the edges for interest.  The focal image is colored with Copics and framed with a Spellbinder die.  A few buttons from my stash finish off the primitive feel of this one.  Kinda reminds me of a beautiful old quilt stored in the attic.

Don't forget to leave the team some love on their blogs by 9:00 PM April 17th 2013.  You just might win a set yourself!  ;-)

Thanks as always for stopping by!  Blessings!!!

WAW72 ~ God's Love ~

Happy Wednesday!  Today's card shows just how much I am longing for spring.  Saturday we had temps near 70 degrees.  Sunday we had 7 inches of heavy wet snow.  And Monday?  Thunderstorms...  sigh...

I've always heard if you don't like the weather in Kentucky, just hang around a minute.  It's bound to change!  And let me just say, my poor little daffodils have been pummeled the last few days but they still poke their cheery faces up at me!

Today I am dreaming in shades of pink...  specifically, cherry blossom pink...  After all, if the daffodils can be so cheery, why not???

using Our Daily Bread Designs' special 5th anniversary release, Quote Collection 3...

So what color are you dreaming in?

Until next time...  blessings...

Happy Saturday All!! So glad you stopped by! I hope you are all having a great weekend!! Today I am popping in to share this week's Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge!!

This week’s challenge:

Use three of the letters in the word “Spring” for your embellishments, materials, or image.

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, April 20th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced Saturday, April 21st. If you are not using ODBD stamps, please do not enter more than once. Additional entries without using ODBD stamps will not be commented on nor will they qualify for prizes.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them! As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing 1 to 2 creations to spotlight for our Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award, however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Friday, April 20th at 8 a.m. EST. If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword ODBDSLC104. When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to our challenge.

Here's my take on this week's challenge... a clean and simple card...

I told ya it was simple! I created a 5 x 7 card with lavendar card stock, using a corner rounder on the bottom edges. I used the butterfly image from Our Daily Bread Designs' Happy Birthday set to stamp random butterflies on the card stock with Versamark Watermark ink. After drying, I stamped the sentiment where desired and sprinkled it with white embossing powder. After shaking off the excess, I used my heat gun to complete the embossed look. I tied some seam binding at the top (using a double bow) and attached a silver safety pin with two pearls added for interest. So easy!!

S - Safety Pin & Seam Binding
P - Purple & Pearls
R - Rounded Corners
I - Ink
G - Gem

Thanks for stopping in and be sure to check out what my other Sister Sticks have for ya... Blessings...

SSIC127 ~ It is Well...

I've kinda been in a pink mood as of late. But nothing I create seems to come out that color... go figure... But today's card is definitely veering toward spring. I even pulled out some old supplies from my stash like Magic Mesh! I think I have had that since my very first scrapbook in 2002! It's practically vintage! LOL...

So here it is...

I have a touch of Magic Mesh behind the scripture panel. But I also placed some gold netting in there too with Scor Tape. The edging dies are some new favs from Cheery Lynn Designs (Queen Anne's Lace)... Love that die! Thanks as always for taking time to visit!

MOJO227 & SSIC126 - There's a Buzz in the Air

Happy Sunday to you! I'm popping in to share my card for the weekly sketch challenge at Mojo Monday. I also took the opportunity to play along with Stampin' Sisters in Christ. They are looking for cards that will make them smile! With Valentine's Day almost here and the sun shining in Kentucky, my thoughts have turned to spring! My poor daffodils are peeking out! With the snow we had over the weekend, I feel certain they want to pop back underground! I love the wonder of spring! Each year it feels like a breath of promise to come... of not only warmer but longer days... lightning bugs twinkling in the summer night and days spent visiting outdoors with family and friends... What a wonderful gift it is! The power of Easter and what it symbolizes... the resurrection of our Lord and Savior... His defeat of death and the grave! Spring is a promise. A promise that life can begin anew if we just have faith! Blessings...

Today's card...

Magnolia Summer - ODBDSLC63; MMSC107

Recently, John and I purchase a couple of Magnolia trees for our property. The boys planted one by my Mother's home and the other outside my back door. The last few days they have been opening their showy buds to reveal the most beautiful ivory blossoms. I love Magnolias and I LOVE to use their shiny leaves at Christmas time to decorate our home. Last December, when we went to Colonial Williamsburg, I drooled over all the beautiful trimmings. This beautiful magnolia blossom is from a set by Petaloo. I added some trims (from Petaloo as well.) I them pulled out my trusty pine branch punch and added some "sticks." This time I let the scripture be the focus... Song of Solomon 2:12... I know I feel like singing when I see those delightful blooms...

Blessings

All Things Beautiful

Many days I fail miserably. I suffer from that disease called not "seeing the forest for the trees." Have you ever found yourself not appreciating the beauty around you? Today was one of those days for me. We are having rain again and not just lovely showers but torrential, lightning zipping across the sky, hail the size of golf balls... rain! And as you can tell by the previous sentence... IT WAS DOING NOTHING FOR MY MOOD! lol... It has rained so much this spring, I swear I am in the state of Washington instead of Kentucky!

Dear hubby and I made a trip into town this afternoon after work to run a few errands. And it hit me like a golf ball or should I say hail... (yes, I am inserting some goofy humor...) The lawns, the fields, everything looks so LUSH. I don't remember the landscape here looking so well, beautiful! As I got out of the car, I realized how fresh the air felt after the most recent shower. And then I realized just how God provides. He sends showers to replenish, revitalize and cleanse the land. Wow! Isn't it awesome how the Creator reveals himself in the creation? Blessings to you and yours this day! I look forward to chatting with you again!

Don't Worry!

Happy Tuesday! Today is my dear hubby's birthday! I plan on taking him out to his favorite Mexican restaurant. Hopefully we will have a peaceful evening. Thank you for your continued prayers. We have moved past some challenging hurdles. Thankfully he is having more good days versus bad! The medication he is taking for rheumatoid seems to finally be working. Praise God for his many blessings! I am so thankful to be able to spend another birthday with him and particularly one where he feels so much better! This quote by Corrie ten Boom sums it up nicely. Why worry? Worry just robs us of the joys of today! Here's to a joyful day!

Give Us This Day

Have you ever heard the phrase "don't sweat the small stuff?" It reminds me of all those years ago when I was a struggling college student. I was blessed to have a scholarship to pay for my schooling. I was an independent sort (can you imagine...) and didn't want to have my parents pay for my spending money. They were dairy farmers and as many of you know, the life of a farmer can be anything but profitable! So I went to work the summer after my freshman year. And I continued to work during breaks. By my junior year I was working 30+ hours a week and finally, my senior year, I accepted a full-time opening with the company. It was difficult. I worked 40+ hours a week and carried a full time class load. And boy, did I ever sweat "all the stuff..." lol... I worried about everything! I was so stressed out that I really didn't get to enjoy my college years and particularly my last semester! Didn't matter if the problem was large or small... I obsessed about it...

For the longest time, I believed God didn't want to be bothered with my little problems. After all there are bigger things for him to worry about like wars, famines and the like, right? Wrong! We should share our needs and desires with him. And we have to be mindful that we may not get the answer we want. However, the Father knows what is best. The Lord's Prayer gives us an example of such a prayer. We need food to eat? We ask. At my house we give grace at each meal, thanking God for his provisions. But I can't remember the last time I asked him to take care of my needs... I am guilty of thanking Him after the fact. I should give it all to the Lord, big or small. Be bold and ask for what you need. After all, we share everything with our best friend. We should have just that kind of relationship with God. He wants all the big and little stuff we carry around! I plan on sharing more with Him each day. I hope you will too!

Happy Easter!

I dare you NOT to smile after looking at this designer paper! Ah ha! I caught ya! You thought I wasn't looking! Isn't this just the cutest thing ever? I found this paper a year or so back and put it in my stash to languish. I couldn't believe my good fortune when I found it again! I love those kind of happy accidents! This week I am playing along with the Cardabilities crew. I decided to enter this cutey for their sketch challenge! Thanks so much for spending a few minutes of your hectic day with me! Blessings to you and yours!

This is the Lord's Day

It is another beautiful Lord's day in Kentucky. The birds are singing and there is the promise of 60 degree temps today! We have had a slow start to spring but hopefully the weather will make some improvements over the coming days.

Today I have a very simple card featuring one of last month's ODBD releases, Daffodil Tag Set. Over the last few weeks, I have been experimenting with different textures and materials in my cards. Today I used denim! I own one pair of jeans so finding scraps would be impossible but I did find some neat denim patches in the sewing supplies department of my local store. But if you have some old jeans around that would work even better! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

I Will Answer

Happy Monday! It's time to start the routine all over again! For me, Monday means going back to work. Many people look at Monday as a bad thing. But you know what? Monday is really a new beginning. You get to start all over again and do things differently. Maybe last week you were a little short with your spouse or you didn't commit as much time to a project at work. Monday morning you have the opportunity to fix some of those things! Each day of life is precious. We know as Christians, we can call on our Lord and he will be there. It may be our deepest, darkest moment. You may be lost and broken. But God can take a broken vessel and make it into a beautiful new creation. How awesome it is to know we can seize that promise. Today's card features one of the recent Our Daily Bread Designs Anniversary sets. This Scripture from the book of Jeremiah is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it too! Blessings ~

Trust in God

Didn't the Challenge team ladies rock the ODBDSLC challenge yesterday? I am blown away by the depth of talent these ladies possess. But most importantly, I am impressed by the hearts they have for the Lord. They are an awesome group of ladies!

Thought I would change gears a little. I have had this flocked paper by Making Memories for at least a year and it was screaming to be used! This one has lots of layers and lots of "girly" stuff! I love it! Hope you enjoy it too!

Fibers - Offray 1/4" White Satin; Offray 5/8" Satin Leaf
Lace - Simplicity - Venice

Notice this fun paper edging? I used 1/4" ribbon and wove it through the loops. I think it really dresses it up! Check out the "faux" die below. The bottom layer beneath the sentiment is actually a 3 1/4" square white piece of card stock. I used a corner punch on each of the four corners, layered it and instant die! Kinda fun!

Blessings to you this Sabbath and thanks as always for reading and sharing your input!

Easter Blessings

We survived another daylight savings change! Whoo hoo! I really wish we could just stop messing with the clock and leave it like this! I love getting up early and getting things done! Funny how I spring out of bed so much easier these days. I think it is because my mind thinks I will be done an hour earlier... Funny how your mind plays tricks on ya!

March is marching on and that means Easter will soon be here. I pulled out one of ODBD Easter sets to create today's card. It has a tad more "bling" that I usually go for. (I am more of a silver girl than gold...) Hope you are having a fabulous week and stay tuned as ODBD will be celebrating a BIG anniversary soon! Blessings!

As long as the earth endures...

My heart is heavy today as I think about those in Japan who have suffered through such a cataclismic earthquake and subsequent flood. I can't imagine what they are going through. It's funny how the Father works. I created this card two days ago and promptly left it on a desk to be photographed at a later date. Last night after absorbing the news events of the day, I ventured to my scrap room. I found this card and re-read the verse from Genesis. God doesn't promise us a tomorrow but he promises us that as long as the earth remains we can count on the rhythms of life... night and day... summer and winter... and even though not mentioned here, I feel certain life and death. Isn't it wonderful that we can count on ETERNAL life if we trust in Him! No more sorrow and no more pain!

We have been dealing with life and death here on our farm. As many of you know we raise sheep in addition to our dogs. I came home a few days ago to find one of our ewes dead along with a beautiful white lamb. As difficult as it was to comprehend, hubby and I knew that this is the nature of the beast and we wrapped ourselves in other ewes and their lambs. As I type this post, we have another ewe down. And unfortunately, she is my husband's pick. I spent two hours early this morning watching him frantically medicate and work with her to save her life. Finally, dejected he came in to rest. I don't know how this story will end but I do know that with life there comes death. It is painful and not for us to understand. It is the result of a fallen world and of course man's sin. I rest in the assurance of the promise our Savior made for us that one day we will be free of pain and death. What a wonderful thought!

I certainly don't want to end this post on a negative note as many wonderful things are happening here at the farm. And if you scroll down after today's card, you will see what I mean. For as with any negative there is always a positive. You just have to look around you to see it. Blessings to you and yours!

His grace...

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. Hubby and I had a very limited window to get some much needed home projects done. I am exhausted from 12 hour days of painting, installing trim and cleaning. My home is finished, thankfully and now I can relax. My body paid a heavy price for the exertion. I am now battling back pain along with muscle spasms. This scripture seems very timely. It is by His grace that I can look forward to a new heavenly body, one with no pain! Thank you as always for reading and I appreciate your comments so much! Blessings to you and yours!
