I had a picture in my head how I wanted these beams to look and they turned out even better than I’d imagined! 

The boards themselves were true 2x6s from a sweet friend’s scrap pile. With them sitting outside, they naturally weathered into a beautiful grey that I stained on top of. But no worries if you have new wood because it’s easy to replicate a “weathered wood” finish! 

DIY weathered wood✨

1. Mix equal parts water and baking soda, enough to apply it thickly over your wood.
2. Cover the wood with thick coats of the baking soda paste using a standard paintbrush, then leave the wood in the sun to dry for at least six hours.
