This photo appears in Butterflies of Michigan (Adventure Publishing--as a Summer Azure) My experience with Azures is that they almost never rest with their wings open, so you rarely get to see their beautiful upperside, except in flight. This individual was a very large, beautiful male. I'm convinced that it's an Appalachian Azure, but others might disagree. Scanned from Kodachrome 64…
