Mary Walker on Instagram: "Bank holiday DIY! I showed this in stories a while ago and as we were doing more of it yesterday I thought this deserved a spot on the grid! It’s so cool. The paint I used is Dulux drip free gloss and it is true to its word. I painted the tops and bottoms with a brush and the middle of the spindles using a paint mitt from Amazon. It worked so well. So fast, great cover and the job was done in half an hour. So if you have stair painting to do get a paint glove. And another useful tool I showed in my stories when painting stairs is the carpet protection adhesive roll. One more coat and they are done. Situated on one of the best streets in Cheltenham, this four-storey townhouse boasted impressive proportions and exquisite architectural elements. Our task was to transform its existing layout, which consisted of separated bedsits, into a spacious single-family residence with a welcoming and eclectic aesthetic.

The stair runner ends on the top riser, we then painted the very top step / floorboard in @farrowandball Railings to create an end to the stair colour. The floorboards were sanded and sealed with @osmo_uk in Polyx-oil raw matt finish. We have floorboards in the bedrooms so I think having it run through the landing too creates continuity. Do you have floorboards on your landing or do you prefer a cosy carpet? . DETAILS The stair carpet runner is from @hughmackaycarpets and called Deco Collection Two Tone Magpie Stripe. We bought from a local carpet shop and they also organised the fitting. The stairs are painted in Railings by @farrowandball.
