About the Design: Hillsborough, NC is a beautiful historic town located on the Eno River. This bookmark is a great gift for those who live here and love Hillsborough (like me), or for folks just passing through who want to take a little bit of the memory of this place with them. Item Details: This particular bookmark is made from a hand carved soft linoleum block. The printed area of this artwork measures approximately 2 Inches wide by 8 inches tall. The sturdy, 130 lb cardstock made using sustainable forestry practices and 100% wind energy. It comes mounted on an archival, 2 ply backing board. Each Bookmark is shipped in a clear protective "eco-sleeve", which is made from plants and is commercially compostable. Suzanne Kruisdijk on Instagram: "A new bird portrait finished! It’s a reduction linoleum print with 9 (!) colour layers. It’s the 4th of a series of bird portraits I’m working on currently. This one was definitely the most complex one so far and not only because of the number of layers. The portrait is inspired by the Starling and I had to make a lot of color tests to achieve the dark warm shine. I didn’t think pure flat black ink did this beautiful bird justice. That’s why I built up the dark shades in such a way that they reinforce each other. The color scheme is therefore actually completely out of my comfort zone which was fun to do and also educational. For each colour layer I did carve more linoleum away from one block. "Lone Bison" is a depiction of the solitary bull tucked away in the vast plains of Yellowstone National Park. Inspiration for this print came from long days spent exploring different areas of the park and seeing bison everywhere we went. This is a hand carved and hand printed linoleum block print with black ink on white paper completed in 2023. Due to the handcrafted nature of this print, there may be some slight variations, this is what makes each print a unique piece of art. The paper size is 5"x 7". The image size is approximately 4"x5.75". This print is intended to fit in the standard 4x6 mat opening of an 8"x10" frame with a small border and signature line visible.
