60th ROGUE UNDERGROUND
DINING EVENT

. . . 22 lucky guests got to enjoy
this 7-course gourmet Rogue event
at this trendy Filipino eatery.

The 60th Rogue Underground dining
event in our 8 year history.

Rogue chefs and support staff
create memorable meals
from scratch, at unique and
surprising venues around town.

The list of eager diners has grown
through the years, and it's first
come, first served, to the first
20 guests to say YES.

Yes, and Yum.

BLADES
FROM THE PHILIPPINES

How can one culture
have so many different kinds
of weapon blades?

(What the . . . ?)

MARDI GRAS
IN THE LOU

A bit chilly,
but sunny and bright.
And that didn't keep
the throngs away
at this year's Mardi Gras
parade and party in Soulard.

There's beads and boobs,
and lots of drinking.
And tons of fun.

(Did I mention beads?)

SIGNS OF SPRING
ON THE UPPER MERAMEC

Spring has finally showed itself
down at the cabin.

Buds on the dogwood trees,
bulbs sprouting everywhere.

Soon the woods will be alive
with wild turkeys and
morel mushrooms.

SCHOOL SPIRIT
AT
2017 SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Special needs students
at area St. Louis schools
competed in sporting competitions
at the 2017 Special Olympics.

 Remarkable effort
by remarkable students
achieving remarkable success.

Thanks to the hundreds of student volunteers
at area high schools
who made the day special.

That's team spirit!

COME INSIDE
THE WINTER CLIMATRON

Even with warm winter days,
and Spring just around the corner,
it's always a refreshing visit
to the world famous Climatron
at Missouri Botanical Garden.

A year round climate controlled
tropical jungle supporting
hundreds of rare jungle specimens,
waterfalls, rare orchids, palms
and an occasional critter.

The rarefied air and humidity
feels so good on your face.

In the meantime, St. Louis
has been enjoying an especially
mild winter, with balmy temps
bringing trees into early bloom.

SUNSET
KIRKWOOD CITY HALL

Lately, our evening skies
have been spectacular.

A light show every night.

METTA IS 7

Metta's 7th birthday party
was something special.

Everyone got an easel,
a canvas to paint,
and cupcakes to decorate.

How artistic.
How fun.

Happy Birthday Metta!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

A visit to Missouri Botanical Garden
has confirmed my suspicions that
Spring is now underway!

Too much mild weather,
not enough freezing cold.
And certainly not enough snow.

Buds are bursting.
Way ahead of schdule.

(Fingers crossed.)

EXQUISITE SUBTLETIES

My favorites
at this year's orchid show
(Missouri Botanical Garden)
were the delicate
smaller specimens.

Something so spectacular
about the delicate subtle detail.

Orchids,
as with most exotics,
are all about
exquisite subtlety.

WARM WINTER BREEZES

Unseasonably warm sunny days.
The sky says it all.

The trees are ready to explode.

(And this weekend is Mardi-Gras
in St. Louis.   Watch out.)

EARLY SPRING
IN THE WOODS

Our unseasonably warm weather
leads the way to an early Spring.

A walk through the woods,
and a keen eye,
   reveals the proof . . .

trees budding,
green life emerging,
shoots and bulbs,
and wonderful
tree bark bracket mushrooms.

(Some bracket mushrooms
are edible and delicious fungi,
but too difficult to identify
with certainty.
So no thank you.)

MY TWO FAVORITE
 SERVING WENCHES

Serving me, feeding me,
putting up with me.

Thanks Jeri.  Thanks Allie.

Great food.
   Easy on the eyes.
