the avonlea shawl from lit knits is finished and ready for the post...

not my best work, but definitely a lovely pattern

almost done...

it has taken longer than anticipated...

...not because it is difficult, mind you.
the pattern is well-written and easy-to-follow...

no, it's me...

avonlea shawl...

I had the good fortune to meet the delightful young designer audry nicklin last week...

audry nicklin with her book
she and her mother were passing through Mendocino on their way home to the bay area where, as any real knitter would,
she made her way to my favorite yarn shop...

Audry is the author of LIT KNITS, a well-organized book of
ten projects inspired by classic literature...

of course, I bought the book

this weekend I pulled out three skeins of o-wool 2-ply
in a lovely plum
and cast on the Avonlea shawl...

something comforting--a symbolic hug--for a friend who is
experiencing great sorrow...

pardon me...
I must get back to my knitting...
