Note.........: 1 - The Positive result indicates the presence of the pathogen in te sample analyzed.
2 - The Negative result indicates the absence of the pathogen or concentration below the
detection limit of the test.
3 - In case of a Negative result and the symptoms persisting, it is suggested at medical
discretion to repeat the same test for 3 to 5 days.
4 - The indeterminate result should be evaluated for symptoms, as the concentration is
close to the limit of detection of the test, and it is suggested at medical criterion to
repeat the same test in 3 days.
The World Health Organization indicates the RT-PCR molecular assay as the reference
(gold standard) for confirmation of COVID -19 cases due to its high sensitivity,
a since it directly detects the virus?s genetic material, its RNA.
The protocols used by the CR Diagnósticos Laboratory for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2
RNA that causes COVID -19 are: Charité Institute of Virology - Berlin, Germany in January
2020 and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 2020.

Examination results should not be analyzed in isolation. They must be related to the
natural history of the disease and the clinical picture by the attending physician.
If in doubt, contact the laboratory doctors.
