Storybook ranch exterior

A tattered 1957 storybook ranch home seemed a clear candidate for a tear-down, but this revived home now lives to tell another tale.

The recognizable houses, designed by homebuilder Jean Vandruff, are the subject of a new book.

Not my favorite style, but I do like it a lot better than the typical crap being built these days. And it's an endangered species, so this beautifully maintained example deserves some recognition, I think.

Stucco is a long lasting material that can handle quite a few of the elements here in the Midwest. When painting stucco, it is best to use a flat paint with a sprayer. The flat paint allows you to touch up areas from all angles without leaving blotches!
