Holocaust survivor, Maria, is riddled with nightmares of the horrors she endured at the Auschwitz-Birkenau German Nazi Concentration Camp, South Poland in 1943, where she had to abide by Hitler's rules. 14-year-old Shelby survives another day, living in the Projects, where there are no laws to protect children of poverty, and where she abides by unspoken rules. When Shelby returns home late one evening, after escaping to the old abandoned warehouse to run from her life, she finds her 6-year-old sister Sienna lying in a pool of blood. Destiny aligns. Maria is admitted to Madison County General Hospital for chronic Pneumonia, and Shelby is brought in on a code red. Together they find the true meaning of family, and embark on a journey of healing.
