Made in a subtle key with veiled references to the communist system of that time, the film only ran for one week, after which it was censored. Set against the backdrop of the dramatic days that preceded and consecrated the Great Union of 1918, "The Moment of Truth" (1918) is more the story of a fascinating but sad love than the fresco of that era. Following in parallel a love in troubled times and the historical destiny of Romania, the film depicts, equally with poetry and realism, the enthusiasm, but also the anguish of those eras, both on a collective and individual level.
