The Hoosier Manufacturing Company established a tightly controlled organization of dealers who sold their cabinets. With only one dealer allowed in a town, the dealerships became a lucrative and coveted franchise for merchants. Prices were set by the company, dealers could not charge more or less for the cabinets. The company also oversaw much of the advertising for their products. By 1916, there were more than 5000 authorized Hoosier dealers.
