Twisted Clay on Instagram: "These platters were made using a dark stoneware clay body and trailed with porcelain slip. This is especially fun because when it comes to glazing the reaction is very different on the stoneware portion as opposed to where porcelain slip has been applied. In the studio we have glaze samples for each of the clay bodies. The difference in color is very strong most of the time. Occasionally the color is the same. A good example of this is our black glaze. It looks very similar on all clay bodies and isn’t a good choice for a piece like this. I usually tell students to pick a glaze with a strong difference between the two glazes." I go over in DETAIL how I decorate my work. I hope I answered your questions!! Follow the link to my online workshops for all the info! I go over laying out designs, applying underglaze to large sections, using a simple squeeze bottle for my black liner, waxing over underglaze, some basics on glazing including waxing over top of glaze, sanding my finished work and finally all things AirPen.
