What + Why
Users frequently don't know what template to insert on a page. The current UX forces users to remember the name of a template and type it in; the only affordance is a search box.
In this epic, we want to add metadata about templates and help users see the most transcluded templates in their wiki, and show how often a template is transcluded when a user searches for templates.
Details
- As a contributor, I should be able to see the most transcluded templates in my wiki, so that I can quickly see and use the most popular templates
- As a contributor, when I search for a template, I should see transclusion data so that I have more confidence in the template I am using.
- As a contributor, when the template selector loads, I should see a list of the most transcluded templates in my wiki, scoped to the content namespace
Goals
- Improve the rate of articles with templates
- Increase the number of editors adding a template
