A swapping friend is struggling through the loss of her father, and this is the card I mailed her today. You're in my prayers, sweet friend!
I'm the first to admit, I feel awkward and useless during these times, afraid of saying the exact wrong thing at the worst possible time, etc. But one thing I always write in sympathy cards is that I hope their memories will be of comfort. And for my friends of faith, I always try to say something to remind them that God is with them. So, at a loss for a better sentiment, I chose "remember" from the Unity Confession kit. The hydrangea image is from an image swap a year or two ago. After tearing the edges, I took my never-before-used duster and dusted the entire thing with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I wanted to give it a bit more of a timeworn look and wasn't entirely happy with the edges, so I let my inner firebug out to play, and burned the edges with matches. (I *highly* recommend you due this is a fireproof basin with water &/or extinguisher at the ready.) I wanted to incorporate ribbon, and found this sheer pale blue in my ribbon jar. I cut slits on either side of the stem, and fed the ribbon through from the back.
I hope that everyone reading this takes an extra moment today and everyday to tell someone you love them, create a new happy memory, remember the special times and give thanks to our Lord for all His blessings.
Heartfelt Hugs,
