Sares' Birthday Costume Ball

It's Sares' birthday, and she is hosting another Costume Ball.  Last year was great fun, so I am ready to PaR-TaY again with Sares!

So, my clothes are all ready, so it's time to get dressed.

First, I must squeeze into my silk corset.

Oooohhhh...let me get this thing all laced up.

Ahhhhh...there's my waist again!
hee hee

This is my Venetian Masquerade ball gown and white wig.
Lovely, right?

The lace on the sleeves is just beautiful.

Here's a side view of my costume.  I can't wait to see what others will be wearing.

At my dressing table, I fix my white wig and put on my perfume.  I just love my Edwardian pink rose dresser set!

I found the most spectacular necklace that matches my dress.
Yummy pink!  Of course!

When the doors opened to the Grand Ballroom...this is what we saw...
Breathtaking!  I can't wait to dance with my beau.

Sares' rose-covered cake is just gorgeous!
I must get the name of the caterer.

There were many other delicious goodies served with the cake!
Yum-O!!!

Here's a toast to you Sares!

I do hope Sares enjoys her gift.
It's a baby pink container chockful of scrumptious rose goodies...
My favorite are the rose soaps.
Oh, I do hope she loves them!

Thank you Sares' for inviting me to your Costume Ball Birthday Party!  I wish you a MOST beautiful and happy birthday!  May it be as special as you!!!

Everyone, head on over to Sares' and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Birthday Blessings,
Rebecca

***A Sorority Is Born***

I adore my blogging friends.  Each day, I look forward to catching up with them on what's happening in their lives, what wonderful creations they are making, what new recipes they are trying, and the list goes on and on.  My sweet friend, Karen, had a brilliant idea.  She asked for input, we gave it, and voila...

Won't you click on the pic to see what it's all about?
We'd love to have you in our sorority too!

Journaling...PART 2

Recently, I shared with you some journals that I made.  This is one of my favorites!
I love to write for all kinds of reasons.  When my best friend, Lisa, and I went to London a few years ago, we vowed to be diligent with our journaling.  Every night, when we returned to our hotel, and made the jaunt up 6 flights of stairs {remember there wasn't an elevator} we would hurry up and get ready for bed.  Then we would sit on our beds facing each other, recounting the day's happenings and "funnies".  There were always funnies!!!  Oh how we laughed!  This was a once in a lifetime trip, and we wanted to remember everything in detail!

Well, I decided to make one more journal...this one for a sweet blogging friend.  She has a very special trip coming up VERY soon!  I wanted her to have a special journal to write down each day's happenings, art project directions, new friends made, shopping excursions, etc. etc. etc.

I hope she will enjoy this little journal that I created just for her.  It is decorated for the "theme" of her trip...lots of lace, ribbons, and buttons because many petticoats have just that!

The beautiful southern flowers are gorgeous this time of year...and a lady needs her parasol to keep her fair skin protected from the sun.

So there you have a few hints!
She probably knows who she is, but I won't spoil that just yet.  I hope she has many happy, creative, funny, sweet memories to fill the pages in her little journal.

Happy Journaling

We Have A Winner!

Well, here we are...ready to draw a winner.
Meet my assistant, Maggie.
Here's the hat Maggie...

"So what are you doing with that hat Momma?"

"Oh, so we are going to pick one of these out of the hat?"

"I'm not looking, Momma.  Who did we pick?"

"So you said NANCY at La Chambre Rose~Linens and Laurel is the winner of the magazine?!"
"CONGRATS NANCY!"
Nancy, just email my momma and give her your mailing address so she can get it in the mail to you.

Oh, how my momma wishes she had one for all of you that can't get a copy.  They have gone fast off the shelves here, but if momma sees another copy, I might just talk her into doing another drawing!
Thanks all for participating!

Blessings,
Maggie and Maggie's Momma

*GIVE-AWAY*Flea Market Style*

When I posted about the new Flea Market Style magazine, I was saddened to hear that many of my bloggin' friends couldn't find this magazine yet.  So if  they can't locate this wonderful mag in their area and I can, well it stands to reason for me to make sure at least one bloggin' friend gets a copy.  So on my way home from church this morning, I stopped in my fav store and picked up a copy for a giveaway!  So one lucky friend will win a copy of the new spectacular magazine,
FLEA MARKET STYLE!

Just leave me a comment that you haven't been able to find this magazine, and you are entered!
I'll announce the winner on the evening of WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10th!

While I was at the store, I had to pick up a few Peeps.  The colors now are so vibrant!  Either you love these Easter goodies, or you hate'em.
I love'em!  *giggles*

Have a lovely week, and I'll see you on Wednesday for the drawing!

Lotsa Love

As many of you know, I had my last two wisdom teeth extracted recently...two weeks to be exact...and it ain't been pretty! For 10 days I was in {almost} constant pain with a few exceptions. I made 4 trips to the dentist, retakes on X-rays, more prodding and poking...and nothing showed up! My dentist referred me to an oral surgeon which prodded and poked some more. He even took X-rays and nothing showed up. So he decided to do "exploratory" surgery on Tuesday of this week. Low and behold he found a root that was left behind...which never showed up on any of my X-rays. Whew! So here we are 2 weeks later {which I have been off of work for} feeling like I'm on the mend. I had one really hard day after the surgery and then one great day where I felt so good! Today, I hurt a little but I think it's because I am now eating real food again, and have aggravated the area in my mouth. But I am most hopeful!
Well, the day after surgery, on the day I had much pain, several things happened that made me feel better despite the pain... The gorgeous flowers {pictured above} arrived from the faculty/staff from my school. Aren't they beautiful?!? Then friend, Kathy, who is also on my third grade team shows up at my door with a gift restaurant card, a gift from our Literacy Leader, and cards from all of my students. Boy, I really needed that! The cards were full of precious drawings of me {dressed in pink, of course!}, Maggie, the classroom, and student self portraits. The sweet cards were full of "get well" wishes. Their notes said how much they miss me, that they love me, and they were "being nice to the sub" to quote one of my sweet girls! LOL They are such a wonderful class * I miss them like crazy * and I knew they would "be nice to the sub". They are so funny.
Isn't this sweet?!?
If you can see in the corners, the word pink was written and then highlighted with pink crayon.

Wow! Jewelry always makes a girl feel better! Thanks Sherrie!

So then, the day gets better...
And you'll have to read the next post to find out why....*snicker*giggle*giggle*

Blessings,
Rebecca

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Hello all. I canNOT believe how much time has gone by! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that it was the end of October since I had posted. And now we are almost to the end of November! Sheesh! You have been waiting quite a while to see what I was going to do with the items I posted. So, I shall not keep you waiting any longer!!
Our church did a Trunk-Or-Treat on Halloween. It was sooooo much fun! Each Sunday School or Bible Study group chose a theme...Our's was Medieval Times. Our backdrop was a huge castle! We even had a dragon! Lots of knights, princesses, and even a traveling minstrel made this a hit! Just take a look...

Princess Rebecca

I'm so in love with that traveling minstrel!

That minstrel is so silly!

Oooooh, what a scary dragon!

The princesses

Our group minus me...I had gone back to the car to get something.

Slaying the dragon

Ahhhh, the minstrel singing me a love song as we watch the moonlight.
*giggle*

It was SOOOOO MUCH fun!!
All of the neighborhood kids loved it! There were games, food, prizes, and loads of fun!
Hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!

On November 23, we celebrated our youngest son's birthday...the BIG 22.
Oh, how my baby has grown up! He is such an awesome, caring, talented young man!
We love you Blake!

And today is my parents' anniversary.
Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad
{aka Nanny and Grandad}!
We love you!

Longing for London

~Click the picture to enlarge~

It's that time again.  March always reminds me of
London now.  Let me share with you why.

Back in 2002, my best friend, Lisa, and I earned our Master's Degree in Education.  Lisa and I met in college when we both had gone back to school as nontraditional students.  We became fast friends and have been now for about 15 years.  We both decided in 2000 to return to school for our Master's, and so we did.  We graduated with a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.  We were so proud of ourselves, and we wanted to do something really fun and special as a reward to ourselves!  lol  We both decided that we wanted to go to England.....London actually.  Our families bought theater tickets, Bed and Bath reservations, att
raction tickets, and such for our birthdays and Christmas in 2002.  And so in March of 2003 (the 12th to be exact) we were on our way on a once-in-a-lifetime trip!!  Now before we left, we met and discussed everything!  We scoured the internet for sites and attractions, restaurants, theaters, shopping (of course!) and most importantly a Bed and Breakfast.  We chose a B&B because we wanted to get the feel of the people.  By the time we left on our trip, we had already paid for 10 days at the B&B, theatre tickets to Phantom of the Opera *insert screams here* and The Lion King, Tour to Stonehenge and Bath (OMGosh, both fabulous!), Tower of London tickets, etc. etc.  The only thing we had to pay for when we got there was our food and shopping.
Now this journey took 10 days to complete with lots of laughing, shopping, laughing, walking, shopping, eating, laughing, and more laughing.  We had such an AWESOME time!  Every night when we returned to the B&B and made our way up to the 6th floor--up stairs as there was NO elevator we would lay on our beds and recap the day's events.  We wrote them all down in a journal so we would not forget a thing!

I can't possibly write all of our adventures, so I will recap the best ones!
Like I said, we stayed at a B&B.  It is called The Vicarage Hotel.  It is in the High Street Kensington area, which is wonderful!!  The B&B was a lovely structure of about 8 stories high, with about 18 or so rooms.  Our room was on the 6th floor, and like I said there was NO elevator.  Our room was a small one, but cute and adequate for us as we weren't there much!  We had two beds vanity (sink) and a dresser.  The bathroom was down the hall which was shared with other guests.
Every night when we returned to The Vicarage, we would stop downstairs in the TV room first before making our way up the stairs for the night.  Out our window we could see across the way to the building in front of The Vicarage.  One floor must have been someone's apartment as we could see clearly (NO, we did NOT have binoculars--hee hee) into their windows.  We could watch them cooking dinner, watching television, and putting the kids to bed.
That became our late night entertainment.  One night in particular, Lisa just knew that the man saw us, was heading across the street to The Vicarage and would be knocking on our door momentarily.  lol  However, the knock never came, as the man never even entered our building!

The double decker bus looked soooo cool, and we couldn't wait to ride it (as we took the Tube most of our stay).  Well, we had two memorable experiences on this type of transportation!  The first time, we got on the bus and we tried to ask the lady if it went to wherever it was we were going that night ( I think it was Selfridges).  She just kept saying *insert British accent here* MARBLE ARCH.  Ok, we knew there was a Marble Arch, but we didn't know where the heck that even was!  Was it before our stop or after, I still don't know.  I asked again.  And I got the same response but I little more louder and in a  little more agitated voice.  I contemplated on asking a third time and explaining that I didn't know if that was before or after the stop we wanted, but someone else beat me to it.  This time the lady screamed *the same reply* at this person.  I turned to my friend, who had one foot on the step to the bus and one step on the curb, and said, "This goes to Marble Arch" trying to imitate the agitated British accent.  My friend had not understood all that took place, and ask if we were on the right bus.  I grabbed her arm, nearly pulling it off, as I dragged her off the bus.  She thought I had lost my mind!  When we got on the sidewalk, in a safe distance from the bus, I told her what had taken place.  So we waited for the next bus, and THANK GOODNESS it was the one we needed!  Whew!  We barely escaped that one!  lol

Oh, but the story gets better!  I am now trying to really be contientious and aware of my surroundings so I knew when our stop had come, for fear of ticking someone else off!  hee hee  I saw the sign, so when the bus slowed down and briefly stopped, I jumped off the bus as I had seen others do.  When my feet hit the ground, I knew in an instance that SOMETHING WAS WRONG!  OMGosh!  I was in the middle of the street with cars that were driving on THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!  And to my horror, I soon discovered that my friend was STILL ON THE BUS AND THE BUS WAS DRIVING AWAY!  To this day, I can still see her panic-stricken face peering out the back.  In that short time, I was wondering how the heck I was ever going to find her again!  A million thoughts went through my mind...Should I try to go on to Selfridges?  Should I go back to the B&B?  What bus should I even get on?  OMGosh, I NEEDED TO GET OUT OF THE STREET IS WHAT I NEEDED TO DO!!  lol  I weaved through the cars (with ticked off honking drivers) and made my way to the sidewalk just in time to see our bus come to a *complete* stop this time.....at the bus stop, just a few yards away.  My friend must have pushed everyone aside because she was off that bus lickety split!  Of course after we had calmed down, shopped at Selfridges, and got back home (on the tube this time!) we had a good laugh as we journaled that night in our room!  LOL

Ok, I am going to rest a bit as this has worn me out reliving these experiences.  lol
Come back SOON as I will be finishing my London stories!

Blessings Until Then,
Rebecca
