Side bend or lateral spinal flexion is a good exercise to train your obliques. This video shows the common mistakes made by beginners while performing side bends and how to correct them.

❌️ Do not use two weight plates on both sides. This counteracts the resistance.

✅️ hold the weight plate on one side and turn your torso sideways on the opposite side to challenge the muscles.

❌️ Do not move towards the weight plate during the side bend. This removes tension from the muscles.

✅️ Bend your torso against the weight plate to ensure challenge to the muscles.
