Jourdan Fairchild on Instagram: "On Tuesday night, I hosted a small party for 10 ladies in my backyard. Most of them had never met each other. Two of them I barely even knew. But as soon as we started talking, the conversation was interesting and funny and natural. I’d been seeking a community ever since we moved here, picturing everyone else in the world having the raucous dinner parties I longed for. But instead of manifesting an invitation or waiting for someone to offer to host, I finally just threw the dang party myself. Making friends as an adult in a new city in this season of life is really hard. I never quite knew this fact of adulthood until I had to do it, and it requires such intentionality and vulnerability. I’ve had blind friend dates, DM’d strangers on this app for coffee Waiting For Someone, Seasons Of Life, Making Friends, Everyone Else, This Is Us, 10 Things

Jourdan Fairchild on Instagram: "Instagram vs reality, living room edition. Some people say formal living rooms are for little more than Christmas trees, but here’s proof we really, truly live in ours every single day. It’s fancier than the other rooms, but nothing formal happens in here. More like guitar lessons and rainbow drawing (washable markers), and this rug is my favorite spot soft to spread out when I’m tired of working at a desk. There’s no tv, which is great for everyone, and we keep it picked up enough for an impromptu cocktail hours. In my mind, no matter how pretty a room, it has to be practical for the way you live life." Jourdan Fairchild on Instagram: "My final project of the year: a playhouse for our dining room table made from a @homedepot dropcloth! This is my attempt to keep my daughters (ages 3 & 7) and their dolls (my old Samantha + Kirsten) entertained over a long Christmas break. They regularly play under the table anyways, so might as well embrace it🤷‍♀️ I painted the windows and shutters with leftover blue paint from the ceiling and used grommets and ribbons I already had on hand. But my favorite part is a tie between the climbing ivy—inspired by our house exterior—and the mini doormat.🥹✨" Jourdan Fairchild, Climbing Ivy, Embrace It, Christmas Break, Under The Table, Blue Paint, Room Table, My Favorite Part, Shutters

Jourdan Fairchild on Instagram: "PART 2 of our closet door makeover is here!! 🥳

After replacing the slatted panels with solid wood, we decided to add caning for texture and dimension. I found this beautiful cane webbing that features four small holes in a diagonal pattern and we sandwiched it between two pieces of MDF. Soaking it in water gave the cane a bit of stretch, and staples keep it from shifting.

Bondo and joint compound — plus so much sanding in 90 degree heat 🥵 — created an even surface and then painted pulled it all together, like it does.

Finishing details coming soon…👀" Jourdan Fairchild, Closet Door Makeover, Cane Webbing, Closet Door, Door Makeover, Closet Doors, Single Doors, 90 Degree, Boys Room
