Rare back views of French hoods. The black bag-type hood or undercap looks more like an earlier medieval liripipe. These pictures date from c1525 to Mary 1st, and while the front changes it appears the back didn't. The bottom picture shows a lady with her black velvet veil flicked up on her head - as veils of gable hoods were later worn.
