Using case research approach by theory elaboration method, the authors modify the general theoretical framework and validate it empirically through eight depth interviews with senior ministry officials, cloud service providers and industry peers. The analysis sheds light on well-designed policies and shows Digital India program as a positive platform for bridging the generation and the diffusion side of initiatives. The findings have added a dimension of nodal points for the benefit of stakeholders to optimise cloud implementation. The paper prompts technical diffusion both in individuals and in businesses. Value is added in linking the generation side of policies with that of diffusion through participatory governance and participatory citizenry.

Our Chi-square tests revealed differences between male and female professionals on three levels of income: ≤ $10K, $11-20K, and ≥$21K. A 20-items instrument adapted from Dr. Kimberly Young’s Internet Addiction Test (Young, 1996) was used to measure Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD). We used factorial Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) tests, with a 2 x 3 factorial design. Gender (male or female) and income were the independent variables. Principal axis factor analysis resulted in four derived factors, used as dependent variables, in four separate two-way ANOVA procedures. Main effects and a two-way interaction effect were detected, with p

This technique often utilises multiple disciplines in one study. The battery industry in India, which is worth Rs. 1700 cr., with a market share of 2000 million units, is dominated by dry carbon cell batteries, and the demand to a large extent is from the rural areas. It also throws light on the recent developments like substitute Chinese products being available and the market for rechargeable batteries growing at a rapid pace, which has affected the industry players drastically. Although these issues have been addressed from different perspective, more researches are required to understand the consumer behaviour towards a particular brand. To understand the behaviour of the consumer, a survey of 350 respondents chosen by random sampling was conducted among the various service centers from various parts of the West Bengal. With the help of descriptive statistics, correlation tests findings were generated. Overall, it was found out that brands that offer a greater variety of options, which appear compatible and require similar skills, tend to be perceived as having greater category expertise or leadership and core competency in the category, which, in turn, enhances their perceived quality and purchase likelihood.

Assocham estimates that over Rs 4,500 crore of fresh investment will come into the education sector by 2014. Equally important, the global opportunity, too, is growing significantly—as developing countries look for help in setting their universities in order. Along with the positive changes like improved standard of living, cultural diversity and better economy, this reform brought cut-throat competition in the market (Bartlesman & Doms, 2000). Organisations have become more profit oriented and to meet the competition in the market employees have been hard pressed to deliver at any cost. Another significant change is the proliferation of BPOs and ITES companies which has created a different type of work culture characterized by long hours of work, monotonous job and night shifts (Agarwal 2014). In addition to this, what employees are facing everyday are: longer commuting hours, traffic congestion, hassles of dual career families etc. Consequently, maximum energy and attention of the employees have been driven towards jobs and careers creating tremendous amount of stres...

Equally important, the global opportunity, too, is growing significantly — as developing countries look for help in setting their universities in order. As the Indian government does not yet allow ‘for-profit’ institutions in education — though it is contemplating changing the law soon. In this context, the case explores the current Business Education scenario and a typical dilemma by a second generation entrepreneur for setting up a modern business school and its positioning and business propositions. It is more appropriate to characterise a particular organisation, be it public, for-profit or not-for-profit, by how entrepreneurial it is and how much social value it creates. This case dis...

The statistical analysis included data for freshmen, sophomores, and others. Two-Way Analysis of Variance, with a 2 x 5 factorial design, was used to test for main effects and two-way interaction effects when gender was compared to time spent online. Because there were three derived factors, three separate two-way analysis of variance procedures were conducted. In each analysis, the associated derived factor was used as the dependent variable.

The random sampling method was used to collect primary data from different management and engineering colleges of twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in India. 695 surveys were conducted, of which 601 respondents had responded and only 417 had filled the questionnaire properly. To perform exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, the sample was divided into two equal parts by randomly selecting about 50% of cases using the filtering algorithm in SPSS (Roy and Vaibhav, 2010). Sample 1 had 209 respondents and sample 2 had 208 respondents. Next, an exploratory factor analysis was performed (on sample 1) on the 38 items of brand personality using the principal component analysis with Varimax rotation. The major findings were: sop...

Low prices and getting good value for money has been the highest priority, India is no exception to this. The Indian SME segment played a very significant role in the overall industrial development of India. With its agility and dynamism the sector has shown admirable innovativeness and adaptability to survive the recent recession and down-turn. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have been considered one of the ‘driving forces’ of modern economies due to their multi-faceted contributions in terms of technological innovations, employment generation, export promotion, etc. Of these, the ability of SMEs to innovate assumes significance because innovation lends competitive edge to firms, industries and, ultimately, to economies. The unorganised retail sector employs the second largest workforce in India after Agriculture and it has already proved its sustainability and resilience over the domestic organised retail sector, for example, BigBazaai; Pantaloon and so on. Now this segment is poised to face the international retail giants heads on - such as WalMart, Tesco and Costco. India is emerging as the consumption giant next to China, irrespective of the global market down-turn and the European Market melt-down. This exploratory research reviews the Indian middle class segment known as the power-house of this huge consumption in Indian retail segment which, in turn, would shape up the SME segment based upon the literature review and consumer segmentation analysis with respect to the Vals2 scale and the relevance of organised retail vis-a-vis the SME segment growth with the employment generation and the emergence of the Indian middle class segment.

This study used data from owners/managers from different Industry Associations and clusters in the SMEs domain in South India and used a two-step approach for data analysis. In the first step, a measurement model was used to assess the validity and reliability of the measures, then in the second step structural model was used to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicate that green purchasing impacts on SMEs firm performance and environmental performance, and eco design impacts on SMEs firm performance. To author's knowledge, this paper is unique in the terms of finding impacts of green purchasing and Eco design on SMEs firm performance and environmental performance.
