Exploring Agumbe Rainforests with KCRE : Learning Adventures in Nature’s Classroom – I

The tranquil forests of Agumbe have come alive. A musical pitter-patter is at play. The nimbus clouds release a flurry of pearl droplets. They dance and swirl unfettered; in mid-air, before they embrace the landscape; imbuing it with a fresh lease of life. The forests is decked in lush, bejewelled shades of green. The stream gurgles to the symphony of a multitude of mating frogs. An idyllic place to get lost in your solitude. The crickets and katydids break into a…

The Alluring Rainforests of Agumbe: Flora, Fauna and Adventure

The Alluring Rainforests of Agumbe: Flora, Fauna and Adventure

Last week we were in the thriving, bio-diverse rainforests of Agumbe (in the Western Ghats of Southern India). My newly-minted 16 year-old was doing her summer internship with Kalinga foundation, at the Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE). These dense forests have a bustling population of reptiles and amphibians. That’s an adventure that will unfold in the coming weeks. Summer, Bummer eh?

Summer, Bummer eh?

The temperatures are sky-rocketing every single day. It’s possibly been the hottest summer of my life, and apparently of the National Capital region (New Delhi), where I live. Summers have been quite the bummer! Last weekend when we were driving back home in the afternoon, our car temperature showed 52 degree celsius. That’s a bizarre 125 degrees Fahrenheit!!! Global warming is more than real, folks. My outdoor nature jaunts and morning walks have come to a grinding halt. I miss…

Focussed & Flourishing – Word of the Year 2024

Focussed and Flourishing – My Word of the Year   Back in my cubby haven after almost 3 months. Boy! Does it feel good! ♥ I’m quarter late to the WOTY 2024 party. Yet, I believe, “better late than never.” A calendar is also a social construct that we create for ourselves, but what the heck, it does helps us stay focussed. Speaking of Focussed, that’s my WOTY 2024 and  Flourishing also chose to tag along. After all, when we…

Human Beings or Human Doings?

Human Beings or Human Doings?

Animals instinctively know when it’s time to hibernate. Humans have chosen to forego resting their physical bodies and souls, caught in the quagmire of their mortal lives. The hustle culture gets real by the day.

Miracles and Brahma Kamal

Miracles and Brahma Kamal

“Miracles lie strewn on our path. We just have to open our hearts to see them unfold and to be able to experience them.”                 Miracles of Brahma Kamal/Lotus of the Dark/Queen of the Night Mythology and History In Hindu mythology, it is said to be the favourite flower of Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, and it is also considered a sacred flower that imparts peace, protection and purity. Looking Back on the Days Gone By | Gratitude

“The years go by. The time, it does fly. Every single second is a moment in time that passes. And it seems like nothing – but when you’re looking back … well, it amounts to everything.” ~ Ray Bradbury
