myasperations 6-20-22

This month’s Sheepski Designs FB Challenge theme is “Pick a Shape.” I picked rectangle and used Andrea’s sweet Chameleon digi named, appropriately “Camouflage.” An assortment of specific background images helps the little critter celebrate all four seasons of the year!
PS Stop by the Sheepski blog to learn more about the monthly challenges and have a chance to win some wonderful digis created by artist Andrea Norris!
(Note- I did crop and darken the second photo so that the backgrounds had better contrast and you can easily see their seasonal focus, which are flowers, stars, pumpkins/sunflowers and snowflakes on weathered wood!)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Papercrafts' For The Girls (two of my nieces love all things reptile. They have a pet Bearded Dragon Lizard named “Leon” that they adore! So I know they will love this card. I can just hear the oldest say, “He’s playing hide and seek!” and the youngest will have fun saying “Chameleon” probably repeatedly with giggles!)
Supplies:

·   Digi- Sheepski Designs (Camouflage)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers, Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen and white colored pencil

·   Wood patterned paper- Hobby Lobby

Papercraft Challenges   Challenge #83 For the Girls

Several months ago, I was introduced to a neat FB/YouTube program named Craft Roulette. Every Friday night the challenge host invites a card maker/blogger to create a card, live on camera, that features four randomly picked themes. This is the second time I’ve entered the challenge and had fun making this card that features an adorable digi from All Dressed Up, that includes the following  themes 1) Project- Card with Ribbons (bows in hair), 2) Colors- neutral background (white) plus two main colors (red and blue), 3) Element- Water (ocean) and 4) Random- Edging (scored with a Scor-pal & stylus.)
I’m entering this card into several challenges including The Paper Shelter and All Dressed Up (In honor of the upcoming 4th of July celebrations, I pick red, white, and blue for my color scheme… plus red and white are two of my favs!)

Supplies:

·   Digi- All Dressed Up (Ship Ahoy)

wecraftcards is a weekly challenge that is near and dear to my heart. I met the members back in 2012 when I joined a Papercrafts Magazine Forum. I soon discovered that winning prizes was fun but getting to know the wonderful people was the greatest treat. When the sponsor closed the Forum later that year, one of the members offered to sponsor a site so that we could keep meeting. Almost 10 years later a small number of us continue to meet regularly to share stamping techniques, support and encourage each other, and even provide small prizes. They are such a great group of people, and they continue to inspire me!. This card is an example. The theme for the June challenges is Movie Titles, in this case, “Chicago.” Most of the entries were music related, but I took a totally different twist... sports!  A family friend is a Cubbies fan, so he’ll be getting this card this summer!
Although people of all ages and genders like baseball, since I made this one for a guy I’m entering it into several challenges with masculine themes: Dare 2 Be Artzy, Digi Doodle Studios, and Paper Funday.

myasperations 6-19-22

I love creating with this sweet (as in gingerbread cookie sweet!) digi from artist Francesca Lopez, especially when printed on kraft brown paper. After coloring the cookie, I added a bit of realism and texture with white “frosting” and glossy accents on his eyes, now, cheeks, and holly accents. I printed his chef hat, holly swigs, and candy cane onto white paper, colored, cut, and attached them to the card with foam tape for some contrast and depth (the side photo shows the layering.)

Supplies:

·   Easel Card- Instructions found HERE

·   Digi- Cute As A Button Digital Stamp (Sugar is Sweet)

·   Colored with Spectrum Noir Classique markers and Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen

·   Sentiments- Computer Generated

·   Holly Embellishments- printed off extra copies from the digi stamp, colored and, fussy-cut

·   Plaid paper- from a boxed set of Plaid cards and envelopes- Hobby Lobby

This year I made dozens of graduation cards. I’m entering this one, with it’s fun mythical theme, into several challenges including Passion for Markers: Transport (I’d love to someday ride a Pegasus? Does anyone want to join me?!) and The Paper Shelter: Favorite Colors (I love purple in all it’s wonderful shades from royal, to lavender, and the shade that is pinkish, almost fuchsia in color. I’m entering this card into several challenges including Double D’s: Beach Time  and Cupcake Inspirations: Color Challenge (my card features lots of purple, plus lavender, and if you look close, you can see a touch of purplish-pink, aka fuchsia, in the beautiful sunset.)

myasperations 6-12-22a

I wanted to enter one more card into the current Double D’s Challenge, and since I had my Origami Dress template out from my last entry, I decided to get busy folding another one! This time, I created an elegant white and silver wedding dress instead of a cotton summer dress. I wanted more of a mermaid-style dress design, so I used the template for the skirt and experimented with a different top and waist.
Supplies:

·   Origami Dress-Freebie Template found Here

·   Silver embossed Wedding image frame- upcycled from a wedding invitation

·   Wedding stickers from my scrapbook stash

·   Inside sentiment- computer generated

·   Clipart used as a template to fussy-cut a hanger from silver paper found HERE

·   Cardstock, scraps of patterned paper, silver weave ribbon, and other items from my stash.

It’s the 15th of the month, so I’m sharing my DT card for QKR Stampede. Stop by the challenge, which is always “Anything Goes” and several prizes are awarded. Maybe you’ll be inspired to enter a card or two yourself?
I love how big dogs that drape themselves over whatever is close by; doorways, furniture, people sitting on furniture! This mutt looks “ahhhh comfortable” sprawled atop a sentiment. I made him look extra soft and fluffy by bouncing a juicy blender pen atop the light tan areas when I was finished coloring.
I’m entering this card into several challenges including Path Of Positivity: Celebrate Something Special about your Hero (my hero is my hubby of nearly 45 years. His name is Rich, and my life is richly blessed because he’s in it! After  he graduated from medical school with high honors, his future looked bright. (Or… should I say “our” future since I wouldn’t wish the struggle called medical school and residency on any young couple!) Then, a few years into his medical career he was struck with an illness that no one could accurately diagnose. He was told it was Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which in the 80’ s became the “go to diagnosis” when no other reason could be found for the extreme fatigue and bouts of mental fog and confusion he suffered. These issues impacted his life so deeply that he feared he might make a mistake with a diagnosis, which could lead to a patients death. Because of this, he closed his practice. He rested, read a ton of books, and basically became a house husband while I continued in the work world. It wasn’t until he suffered a stroke 12 years ago that we learned that he has MS. Finally, we had a reason for the struggles. But sadly, since he was 30 years into the disease, the damage to his brain was too far along for him to be able to benefit from any of the treatments that would have helped him through earlier stages of the devastation. You would think he would feel bitter and defeated. He was relieved to have a diagnosis. And although his prognosis is no different, he is one of the most positive, and funny, people that I know. Plus, his faith is amazing! I have not met anyone who faces life with such peace and hope. He uses the amazing brain God gave him to study the Bible, even learning Greek and Hebrew to help in this task! And he does an excellent job of taking care of the house, me… and several beloved dogs we’ve raised over the years. The dog on this card reminds us of our Brittany Spaniel, Cody, who used to collapse upon any space he wished, and he was partial to sofas and beds (with or without people already on them!) Cody has been happily romping in dog heaven since 2006, but we still talk of his many antics. And the memory of several can still make us laugh out loud.

My final card for this post is also my final entry for the current challenge at Power Poppy. I was thrilled when they started these up again and have had fun making cards with spring blossoms.  This card, featuring the digi set “Blossoming Cherry” was inspired by a card I spotted on Pinterest. The Tunnel Fold is surprisingly easy to create and I love the result!
