There’s a Message in The Madness . . .

Small Text Sculptures in glass bell jars by contemporary artist Nicola Anthony. Each of Nicola's works is shaped by the story it contains - multilayered, fragile, suspended in time. These personal pieces are often commissioned to tell a life story, a verbal portrait, or a significant phrase or quote.

San Francisco-based branding and design agency Character created these enormous 3D shapes for San Francisco Design Week, placing them around the city where they act as a transparent window onto the environment. Their aim was to “highlight the uniquely diverse ecosystem that makes up this hub of creativity we call home.”

This fall, a 4.4-acre site in downtown Des Moines will become a sculpture park, with works by Willem de Kooning and Louise Bourgeois.

Conceived in 1966 and executed in 1998, the red, blue and green Pop art piece, with its signature tilted O, will be on permanent display adjacent to Aventura Mall’s Tap 42 Craft Kitchen + Bar. Indiana, who passed away in 2018, said: “The LOVE Sculpture is the culmination of ten years of work based on the original premise that the word is an appropriated and usable element of art, just as Picasso and the Cubists made use of it at the beginning of the century.”

We start this visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park where we left of the last time with Jaime Plensu. Only this time his outside sculptures. These seven figures (there’s one obscured from view) hugging the trees are all embossed with the names of various composers all over them. These figures are obviously coming from the same place as the tree huggers – they’re in the same posture. These ones are made from various cut out metal letters (not just English letters) which have been welded…
