Graphing Solid Figures. Step 1: student chooses 1 item and places it on the graph. No talking allowed (I used the silent star). Step 2: building the graph. Step 3: this is where everything was after initial placement. Took down silent star and asked if there were objects that needed to be moved. Students then moved the object, explained their thinking and took signals from the group. Lots of good discussion and some disagreements at this point! Step 4: final placement of objects.
